The time of Diplomacy is over. The length of the war and differing opinions on what should be done to bring the war to an end has led to a splintering of the groups involved. The controlling powers-that-be have depleted arsenals and seemed to have exhausted all efforts of diplomacy. Trapped in a stalemate, sub-factions have rebelled and broken off the main alignments. Rebellion is upon us.
The exciting next chapter in the awesome Sins of a Solar Empire universe has arrived. A full-fledged expansion to the original,Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion draws you even deeper into the galactic struggle for supremacy with appealing new factions, terrifyingly cool new ships of all sizes, enhanced lighting and particle effects for increased visual pleasure and all-new victory conditions.
“Rebellion is the first stand-alone expansion to the Sins of a Solar Empire universe,” said Brian Clair, director of publishing for Stardock. “Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion will add many new ships, refresh the visuals and integrate Impulse::Reactor features to support achievements, multiplayer leagues and much more.”
In the original award-winning Sins of a Solar Empire, developed by Ironclad Games, you are the leader of one of three civilizations embroiled in a galactic war, fighting for survival of your entire race against relentless foes. Your success will depend on your ability to manage your empire and command your vast fleets of starships to victory. Players will colonize new worlds, develop extensive trade networks, conduct research, fortify their empires with powerful starbases and fleets of ships, plus control the galaxy using the unique diplomacy system that reacts dynamically to the players’ actions.

Ok--I am ready to pre-order. Pant, pant. please, please, please tell me Galaxy Forge gets a tweak in this release...pweeee-eease?
So it says "For more information go" *link*.
I click on the link on the main page, it takes me to a forum post that says the exact same. I click on the link in the forum post, it takes me to the same page. IT'S A TRAP.
Ironclad, such a tease with patch 1.2. If only we had known...
*gasp*
*surprise*
Question: if you have Sins but not the expansions, do you get a discount/ are you going to be missing content?
I swear, updated visuals... I have no idea what that means... but if guns finally fire straight and/or strikecraft no longer fly through planets..., I am going to murder millions in Ironclad's and Stardock's name.
(ehhh.... in game of course... i mean... nuking planets... and all )
Will there be more multithreading support? That's the biggest issue I have with Sins right now, is that with everything turned on and a big map it slows down by pegging a single core while the others are effectively idle. With the prospect of adding a lot more stuff, the problem will get worse (just like it did from vanilla to Entrenchment to Diplomacy).
But if they can make real use of more cores, then the game will get a massive performance boost.
This pleases me greatly.
So, Stardock/Ironclad, CAN I HAZ SCREENIEZ?
Also, Corvettes=WIN.
nice!
'Fraid that's not gonna happen. Fighters have no collision detection for performance purposes, and that's unlikely to change.
I'm actually kind of worried about this. Sins already has too many small ships running around, I don't know how we are supposed to deal with something smaller than frigates. Though at least it sounds like they won't be primary combat ships.
Muwhahahaha...patrol boats!
Well, from the OP, it sounds rather like they are intending to do a more capital-ship bent focus, what with the new Titan-class and the new capital ship class they're intro'ing.
Thats why I asked about multithreading. Yet more small ships running around will be really bad for performance. But if they can add some extra threads they'll have a lot of room to work with.
Shwing! shwin shwin shwin SHWING!!!!
Bring me the Beta! And a goblet of something cool and refreshing!
Heck ya! I'm sold!
I HATE THIS SO MUCH!
I CANT DO ANYTHING!
YOU HAVE TOTALLY RUINED MY LIFE!
[voices inside my head ] "Captain! Our productivity is down, self-control systems offline and mental stability is failing!" [/voices]
STILL NO STORYLINE though.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MUST PRE-ORDER NOW.
Awesome. We all knew it would happen. We just weren't sure if Stardock and IC knew it. I also like how I wasnt playing this game for a few months and as soon as I come back: Beta patch! New expansion! (literally, the beta patch came the day after I came back to this game)
hhmmm... one of those articles says "stardock hopes to release the game in 2010, but says they will release it when it's ready"
Either thats a misprint (and not the only one in that article), or its been in the works for awhile. I'm guessing misprint since I havent heard anything until now. At first, I was reluctant to believe this post until I saw it on the main page.
but what i really wanna see is a new interceptor strikecraft class . . .
From what I understand, a discount will be for Trinity owners.
I say that the game will be released at the end of 2011.
