The time of Diplomacy is over. The length of the war and differing opinions on what should be done to bring the war to an end has led to a splintering of the groups involved. The controlling powers-that-be have depleted arsenals and seemed to have exhausted all efforts of diplomacy. Trapped in a stalemate, sub-factions have rebelled and broken off the main alignments. Rebellion is upon us.
The exciting next chapter in the awesome Sins of a Solar Empire universe has arrived. A full-fledged expansion to the original, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion draws you even deeper into the galactic struggle for supremacy with appealing new factions, terrifyingly cool new ships of all sizes, enhanced lighting and particle effects for increased visual pleasure and all-new victory conditions.
“Rebellion is the first stand-alone expansion to the Sins of a Solar Empire universe,” said Brian Clair, director of publishing for Stardock. “Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion will add many new ships, refresh the visuals and integrate Impulse::Reactor features to support achievements, multiplayer leagues and much more.”
In the original award-winning Sins of a Solar Empire, developed by Ironclad Games, you are the leader of one of three civilizations embroiled in a galactic war, fighting for survival of your entire race against relentless foes. Your success will depend on your ability to manage your empire and command your vast fleets of starships to victory. Players will colonize new worlds, develop extensive trade networks, conduct research, fortify their empires with powerful starbases and fleets of ships, plus control the galaxy using the unique diplomacy system that reacts dynamically to the players’ actions.

Your crush my heart good sir...
I'll still bite and give sins another spin
Awesome news it sounds like a really great idea.
How lond till we can preorder it?
How will it be priced? Will it have a two-tier pricing? If you already own Diplomacy, can you get Rebellion for the price of a regular micro expansion ($10) or $15 or will you have to pay the same price as someone who never bought a Sins game?
All I can say is...
YEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
They used the words Stand Alone Expansion, so I am betting more in the $ 25-35 range.
I'm hoping for some sort of a discount for people who have Diplomacy since it doesn't seem right to charge people who've been with the game all along the same price as people who are just purchasing a Sins title for the first time, especially if it's using the exact same engine and files as the earlier versions. If it's really just Diplomacy + next expansion, it would seem like we're getting stiffed. If it's going to be $30 or $40, then at least give us a $10 or $15 discount.
Pictures or it didn't happen! =p I want!
Will it be in stores becuase i mainly buy games at say walmart
WOW... I hope a class between cruiser and capital.
damn.... have to wait another year
The question is , will there be MOONs
can a titan beat a star base
Hehehe...still looking for moons Lordkosc? Good to see you buddy!
when does it come out
I was still excited about the new patch that is in the works! This is the cherry on top! I am so thrilled that the finest 4X sci-fi fleet warfare game ever is getting more love and affection!
I suddenly feel the need to write a new Sins fanfic AAR....
Oh yes...DT will be back for this one.
Sins101 RIP,
Feb 23 2011 became 2 years since your unfair vanishment out of the Soase Community.
Unfortunately someone has recently filled his niche.
All I can say is......
DISTANT STARS MOD CREW UNITE!
...Which begs the question, if it is balanced properly, why build immobile starbases when you can build phase jumping Titans?
In other news, I talked to a guy on ICO earlier who said that he had been playing it in single player for two years and didn't know that the ICO Lobby and Multiplayer existed until he saw one of my posted replays (he only visited the forum occassionally and didn't pay much attention to it, aparently). Earlier he had clicked the Multiplayer button and concluded that the game only had LAN and IP connect support.
So, for the expansion can we rename the buttons: "LAN/Connect to IP" and "Online Multiplayer"?

exactly my question
Will they ad new defense
BRILIANT!!!
screw it, do it for the 1.2 patch!
1. starbases will probably be stronger per cost
2. fleet supply
3. you can upgrade starbases with what you want when you want it (more or less)
4. there will probably be a limit how many titan class ships you can get and/or it might take more then one capital ship crew
5. I can see a ship class like this taking at least 5 labs
Titans are going to be a b!tch to balance for this very reason. It remains to be seen how they'll be handled.
The one thing that gives me pause is that this may be yet another thing that is countered best by bombers... I DO NOT want to see that...
As long as Rebellion learns from the mistakes made in Diplomacy, it should be good. I just hope they fix the mistakes in Diplomacy in the mean time.
It would probalby work if it were just a double sized capital ship, say 2x hull, 2x shield, and 3x firepower. You could still focus fire that to death with a large fleet.
I wonder if they might consider implementing one of my older ideas. Reduce the amount of experience needed for a capital ship to level up and increase the max number of levels. That way a capital ship might eventually be able to become Titan-like.
Balancing all of these additions is going to be daunting. It's gonna need months of Beta-testing.
I also really hope that they will focus on releasing a high-quality product--almost no minidumps or desyncs, elimination of lag in online multiplayer, less CPU and RAM intensive, no Mesh Errors, etc.
