I was juts thinking, we can easily (on JeeSports) set up a league. It could be round robin, double round robin and have playoffs at the end (or not).
The other thing we can do with the structure is to have a league and a sub league.Initially everybody would be on the lowest level league. perhaps split into two divisions. At the end of the first season, promotion and relegation would occur (automatically on jeesports).that would allow some temas to move up and some to stay in the lowest league.the third seasons new teams could enter (from the lowest league) and climb up.
A league approach (which doesnt mean we could also have weekly tournies), means that we can get the new players to have some fun competiting as well (at least from season 2 as season 1 will probably be rough for some).
Match structure wise, it could be flat or dynamic i.e. be for example 3 * 2v2s per playweek or something a bit more complex like 3*2v2 + 3 * 3v3
at the end people would know that they have 1 team to play per week. that shouldnt be too difficult to manage even for the more casual players
let me know what you guys think.bestiamKira
I think a league is hard to accomplish either way. These single day tournaments seem to be going quite smoothly. But as we saw from the failed 3 vs 3 tournament back in December, when you try to get people to commit to playing Demigod over several weeks it doesn't turn out so well. There was around 20 teams registered, and only one played all of their games. This was with a cash prize being offered.
Some pretty fair points. Even if we nixed the league idea per se, I still think a few of us would enjoy having some high level matches on a weekly basis with set teams and perhaps the occasional change up to the rules. I'd be content with that, but certainly support trying to do the league deal and see where that takes us. Pretty valid points though...
I think if you want more than say 3 or 4 teams competing regularly you are going to have to consider option 3. I know this will be a bit frustrating for some players but if you want a league to go anywhere at all I think a little dispersal of talent is necessary.
Dark is right about ppl being unaware of this concept. From brief conversations in lobby I found that not many ppl knew what I was talking about. Im not sure what can be done about this other than the few ppl i saw hosting permanent passworded custom games like "go to jeelounge for tourney info" etc. Again the language barrier is a problem.. perhaps this idea repeated with other languages??
Finally. are you thinking of setting up a a league with relaxed timing for matches? I think this would be best re. teams not turning up at certain times etc. I'm not sure how this can be set up technically but a system where if "you don't play regular matches" = "fall in ranking" would probablty be best for dg as a motivational concept.
Hit it right between the eyes.
