Ok guys - sorry for the haste on this, but I need to head off to sleep and I'm looking to try to get a practice tourney going ASAP. The tourney will happen THIS WEEK on Sunday at 12PM EST (2/6/2011) - (a more friendly time for many folks in different time zones).

Here are some more details about the whole JeeLounge deal. We have a guy that's been in the community for some time and is a solid player (IamKira). He indicated in another thread and to me privately that he is tied to a site that could GREATLY simplify organizing tournaments, etc, for us. As getting tourney's successfully completed has been a huge pain for us in the past, I'm all ears for new ideas. Anyway, I checked out his site and I think this will be excellent for the community. So, this test tournament is primarily to try out the new system and see if things work well for us. If so, then we'll be using JeeLounge going forward for all community tournaments (and the next few tournaments will all carry a decent cash prize (and future ones will likely be sponsored by stardock). So, here's what you need to do if you want to participate.
You will not need to repeat the jeelounge steps again for future tournaments once you have registered.
And last, I can auto-assign teams if needed. I could put everyone that registers into a team. So, please follow the steps if you want to participate. I'd appreciate everyone making an effort to register so we can test this new system out quickly and get on with planning some cash prize tournaments. Reply here if you have questions and to tell us if you have formed a team (again, you MUST register on the site AND tell me that you already formed a team.)

It's single elimination... and they each lost a game and were eliminated... apparently they still, for some strange reason, would play another game after being eliminated?

4-5 Nnnils + jongalt or Darkliath + Insidious. Actually it doesn't matter who is 4th and who is 5th, but still... Might be good for semifinals though to get a 3rd team (both losers play one more match )
Hmm... I wonder if that is a desirable outcome. I'd say no, personally. It's generally not intuitive (eg it doesn't follow the brackets at all) and requires a team that has been eliminated to come back and fight another match. I'd personally prefer to have brackets that accurately show the matches.
Yes, I've noticed the weird 'running' status, but assumed it just did not update Anyway, I'm sure nnnils and Jon can play with you both for fun and just to change the tourney status to 'finished'.
At this stage the brackets don't show the matches neither for the 3rd place nor for the 5th place but these matches do exist when you look at the upcoming matches list.
I had discuss this issue before with my devs and we'll check again what can be done to display these matches on the brackets page in practice it's a matter of communication for now ie letting people know that these rounds exist and are to be played.
I have no problem playing another match, we just need to schedule it. Im at my computer most evening between 8:30-9. I've been working so i havent been jumping on to vent. Pacov, if you can hit me up on Steam that would be great.

You can just hook up with your opponent and report result on the match details page. This would then close the tournament.

Yeah - play the game if you guys want and upload a replay for it on the site. If you get more experience with the site, it will be easier for the next tourney.
So, I'll stick with the 2 weeks notice rule for any formal cash tourney, but for practice tourneys I'm just going to shoot at the hip and schedule them on the fly.
Is there any interest in another practice tourney for this coming Saturday at noon EST? I'm thinking we'll keep it 2v2 with a slight variation in rules. Replay here if you'd be interested/free to play. And again, just treat it is as a fun tourney to try out the new system. They won't have ping issues and the AI will take no offense after being called an idiot, true. But seriously, that's an idea for 1+1 AI tourney only. With all due respect, having an AI teammate is an extreme handicap (though certain settings allow the AI-controlled Nightmare Rook to get quite strong).
Well, I don't really have any objections to having an AI in the practice tourney as long as it increases the number of teams some. The goal of the tourney is to test out the system and get more and more people familiar with it before we go live with a cash tourney. And we wouldn't be playing with the AI on some crazy setting. It would just be normal HP/normal payout (eg no real adv to doggu). Might tack on the enhanced AI mod for him though. Anyway, I certainly don't have a problem with this in the test tourney, but definitely do in a cash one. And yes - the ai is quite a handicap, but these test tourneys are just for fun - and besides, it will still be single elimination.

I'd like to be in the next tourney. Saturday is good for me. Should I enroll now in the new site, or wait until the tourney gets put together? And I don't have a team yet.
you should register on the new site and get yourself added to teamdg. If you have issues with this, just let me know. In the meantime, see if someone will team up with you by recruiting on the forums or just in passing during games. Glad you decided to jump in!

any other votes would be appreciated. This week - practice tourney on sat or sunday? Zen, if you get left out a week - no big deal - just practice, after all. Make sure you comment here when you are available though (eg if it was on sat, when u free). I do think we will have another practice tourney this weekend though. THINK ABOUT WHO YOU WANT TO TEAM UP WITH.
If zen isn't free, I'll need a teammate, so pm me if interested. Otherwise, I'll probably go the doggu route and pick up an ai teammate. If I beat you I will laugh though
edit - there are 22 of us registered and in jeelounge under team dg. If you have already registered (if not get off your butt and read the op), check ot the folks that are there and pm them on jeelounge or here. Make a 2 man team.
If i didn't say so - practice tourney 2 will be a 2v2. The rules will be slightly different, but not a huge stretch. I believe at least 1 person on your team will be able to pick any dg they want.
