Staff Mod:
Summary:
I recently took an interest in seeing if I could make my Updated Weapons unlock abilities as the unit's leveled. Sadly, There were certain limitations that made it difficult for me to make this a reality with standard units. However, I though about a method of creating a weapon based skill tree which unlocks combat abilities as you level up particular champion stats. In the most general case, one can use the same leveling schema used in the spell books with combat abilities unlocked on weapons. The only downside is that these extra abilities can not be directly hidden from view, and the sov has total access to all of the abilities whether he meets the requirements or not. While this second limitation can be addressed using an additional modification, I have decide to make a small addition mod which adds in staffs similar to those found in Gnilbert's old mod and NimbleJester's mod. In an effort to get some feedback from the rest of the community, I am releasing the first completed staff, the fire staff, as a Proof of Concept mod.

bump. Please comment, i am interested in any and all possible solutions to the abnility skill tree problem.
This is pretty neat. I hope you get around to the other 3 types.
IMO, this is precisely where a stat like essence could come into play. Among other things, the ability to use magic items (at least their magical effects.)
My original thought had 6 in total. Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Life, and Death. Honestly, I am actually working on something else right now that I think trumps this mod, but I think I will come back to it once I have finished my other project.
