The first theme I ever wanted to do was a green LCD theme, well, never got around to it.
There's been a few made ever since, haven't really satisfied my taste.
I thought finally it was time for me to knock one out.
I'll post the usual progress...
Thanks Peeps
Well, 1. i may tone it back a little, see if i can please everyone.
2. desaturation is very easy with WB recoloring section, all i did was add a about 30% more green saturation.
permission denied Anyway, an explanation of why you feel this way would be appreciated. What is drab, what is classical and why? I'm always willing to listen to reasonable arguments.
Thanks for your comment
[quote who="gmc2" reply="24" id="2848231"]lacks depth, wouldn't an LCD display have depth??
Um, no, i don't think so.. no reason a flat, smooth screen with flat characters would have depth imo. The only depth i would imagine is the casing of a watch, or component that the LCD screen was embedded in. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I'm not skinning a watch As far as adding more depth around the individual elements, buttons etc... depth just isn't my thing, looks clunky and old fashioned to me and a waste of space for folks that like things streamlined.
Altho this is a much greener type LCD, I think youll agree, not much depth here...
And here... other than the casing.. no depth at all... just flat.
I will keep everyone's constructive comments in mind tho, and thanks everyone.
Also, keep in mind, much about skinning windows isnt so much realism as it is... stylism. Skinning all 3 OS's and making them all usable and comfortable has its pitfalls.
And apparently the quote system isn't working correctly.
skin/watch, shit, I always get those two confused.
it looks good, no denying. what I meant was like on the second screen shot. you can see the pins in the background, I'd call that depth but...
Me likey. Still too desaturated for my taste, but hey, you can't please us all. Looks great!
Don't be shy about "Smart Recolorize"
Won't hurt v's feelings.
I have reduced saturation of green to about half way between the two previous choices....
and removed the choices
I have given the green elements more of an inner glow, to create a little more depth and worked on the titlebutton area a little.
Ive also changed the name, because, in its strictest sense, this is not meant to be a reproduction of an authentic LCD chip.. just my vision of how I would like this theme to look, loosely based on the LCD concept.
renamed to Concept LCD.
Thanks for everyone's input... lots more to do, this is just an initial mockup and if theres one thing I know as a skinner.. its choices.. are a bad thing.. and you can never please everyone.
wait..that's two things
Gorgeous Man ! Roll on brother......trust your instincts and it will be flawless !
Thx Harley.. ur a peach
The inner glow was a very good idea. About the choices? You have a choice.
Harley is a great skinner and community member...with some mighty good advice which thankfully, you know.
You are such a suck up....watch out Elsius!!!!
OMFG... i just had an EXCELLENT IDEA !!!!!
Contest - Biggest suck up gets the theme for free
disclaimer** I'm pretty sure AV was handing out wise advice, he is disqualified from contest
(bonus points given for saying how great the Jacksonville jaguars are and\or any innuendo regarding how rotten the Colts are)
GO JAGS !!!!
I think when more elements are added it will more pleasing to the eye. Right now its minimalistic which is not a bad thing. What would make it stand out more? Hmmm
I'm automatically disqualified: "Catch K.W."
The Colts suck buffalo cookies!!!
The Jags are ... well ... the Jags. I ain't good at suckin' up. Besides ... I'm not into football. I'm out of the running I guess.
GO NASCAR!!!!!!!
lets not get carried away

the title of Skinner Extraordinaire does in no way do you justice...... your talents know no bounds....
your dashing and debonair countenance leaves females fainting in your wake as you stride magnificently with purpose and confidence down public pathways.... left littered with swooning women, dazed and dizzy after their encounter with perfection personified...
Errol Flynn's star on the Hollywood walkway..... has just been replaced with John Gordon.... and skinned with an even brighter star with a drop shadow and not too much bevelling....
oh wait... I get it anyway.... scrub that..
UGH!!!!
The above image translates to Lucky Jim !
still....that's a little too close for comfort......
If that map has anything to do with me, I hate to tell you but I'm a good ways east of the marker...lol.
and........closer...
Yay shorter drive !! muahhahahaha!!!
