This is a big, big thing. When you right click a square to move units, it will automatically start moving towards that square with no warning. You never get to see the path it is going to take, and you can just as well misclick on a wrong square, especially if you don't have the grid on. Some sort of a display showing where the unit is going to move and where it is going to stop this turn (if it hasn't enough moves to get to the target square) is an absolute necessity in this game. Once again I booted up 1.1 and within 20 turns I had twice moved to a square I didn't want to move because there was no warning and I misclicked.
Totally agreed; and it doesn't help that elevation really messes with locational clicking. The cloth map is always accurate, but the mesh is not, and without a way to verify where you're clicking before the order is issued...
I agree that this is a problem. It's pretty frustrating to have units go to unexpected locations. Especially if you are trying to engage an enemy near an undefended city.
What I would really like is to be able to hit a button, and every unit with move orders gets a nice large red arrow to where it is moving. A great touch would be to have a turncount estimate in the middle of the arrow. I spend way too much time figuring out if I have the correct move orders in place. It makes the game tedious at times.
Also, I would like a button that commits all pending move orders, but doesn't end the turn. That way, all the units that have reached their destination don't lose their remaining moves.
I think this would bump up the enjoyment factor considerably.
Yes. I want this too. In fact, even when you press end turn, if some unit reaches its destination, it shouldn't end the turn but instead jump into that unit and let you move it.
I completely agree with the above posts. This problem is more annoying than you'd first think. At first it seems to be a minor annoyance, but the more I play a game the more irritating it gets. I now consider the 'end turn' problems to be serious. Stardock, would you please look into this?
I agree. Many times, in tactical battles on the strategic map, I have "accidentally" clicked on the wrong square, or alternatively the camera's focus changes and I start moving other units to a destination I never intended to go to. Stardock, please implement a simple fix - at least a confirmation dialog, in both strategic and tactical mode - even if it is too complex to make a quick "number of turns to get to Y" solution right away.
I know, I, and am pretty sure that many others would be very grateful for these fixes. And fixes like this can improve playability tenfold, for hopefully not too much investment of time by the programmers. And I think that simple fixes that do so much are very valued by programmers.
What do other people think?
Best regards,Steven.
I agree with all of this.
I also hate how you can't tell if a square can be passed through.
Other Civ-like 4x'ers did this right. Why can't Elemental?
I agree there should be different colors for how many seasons it will take to get where you want to go.
Thanks for the support. I'm fairly confident SD has to be aware with this, especially with Jon on board saying that he has a lot of gripes with the UI.
Is this a feature request or a bug report?Because it doesn't look like the latter.
I accidentially put it in the wrong forum, as I was posting a lot of bug reports. Sorry. Glad it is moved to the right place.
