Ok, so I decided to create a new Chatroom, because the old one was getting pretty....old!
Everyone may post here, as well as in the good'ol Flameroom...I mean, Chatroom
I would like to keep this Chatroom civilized. Well, as civilized as most forum threads are (doesnt mean that you all have to be polite like Oatesy, lol).
So for this reason, I may update the OP of this thread in the future, posting certain thread rules, as I see fit.
For now though, post away, and everyone is welcome!
Currently these users are banned:
- ArcticBlunder
Its still available on steam
but i am contemplating minecraft :I
Oatesy03: "Okay, we don't need anything from the Chatroom, so we can just go round it and not lose anymore of our free time. So we're just going to sneak round, and we'll be fine. Got all that?"
Limey Man: "Jolly good dear chap. Just give us the signal and it'll be done in a jiffy."
Oatesy03: "Okay, let's go."
Limey Man: "Let's do this...
LEEEEEEEEERRRROOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYY JEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNKKIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNS!!!"
Oatesy03: *Facepalm*
Why is Leroy Jenkins always the subject of peoples' ire?
I mean, is he a mass-murderer or somesing?
@morph- yeah, The Orange Box is a great deal. I actually spotted a copy in an Air Force exchange on Los Angeles Air Force Base.
Of course, the only reason I'm not super-interested in The Orange Box is because I already have Portal.
But I do have friends who don't have Portal, so meh, I could still gift The Orange Box copy of Portal to them once I get them to set up a Steam account.
What, you don't know of Leeroy Jenkins?
The great ruiner of plans? The mighty foiler of the most brilliant strategies?
You have not lived.
Also, they sell video games on military bases in America? Sucks to be a bored British squaddie...
Even I know leeroy
I have heard my friends use the name but who is he really?
Yes, the do indeed. In the electronics section, where you can buy a digital camera, camcorder, or HD television. Or an Xbox360 or a PS3.
On a side note, I'd guess it's because most US Military exchanges (or general stores really, as the stores in question sell a large variety of goods, from magazines to books to games. They don't tend to have big selections though.) are run by civilian personnel and possibly interests.
On the downside, there's very few games I'm actually interested in that I either don't have or the store doesn't carry. Like the original Homeworld, and Homeworld Cataclysm. You won't find those in a store, and I'm doubtful of finding them online.
Maybe GOG, but still.
I'm just watching a show called "Royal Navy Caribbean Patrol" (surely they could've thought of a better name?) which is documenting the last 7-month tour of the HMS Manchester. They are, as the navy usually is nowadays, combating drugs smugglers. They've just found a small ship with a barge and the captain of the ship is making claims which contradict one another. The ship, however, is in US seas, so the Manchester can't do anything about it. However, the US Coastguards onboard the Manchester are about to.
I think it's pretty smart sticking US people on the ship in case they are in US territory. Saves time.
EDIT: Lol, the way they dealt with it when they got permission to board was to raise a US Coastguard flag. Smart.
UPDATE: The Coastguards found nothing onboard, but something was spotted floating in the ship's wake. Upon further investigation... it was a coconut.
I meant available at an actual store.
Why do people like that game so much? I find it rather boring
LOL, you British people use such funny words, and expressions
Its still worth the price, unless you dont care about Team Fortress 2.
But come on, the Half-Life series is a must for any gamer who enjoys a good FPS
I didnt know who it was either, but I have heard that name many times before.
But damn, WoW has really really terrible graphics It was ok for a few years after it was released, but come on, its a (what?) 7-year-old game now?
WoW graphics = Equivalent to DirectX 7, for me.
And yes, graphics is important at this genre of video games, because there are much better (and younger) games than WoW.
On another note, Rift is a really great MMORPG. Sadly, the open Beta is coming to an end at like 10 hours or so, and I wont be a paying customer any time soon. Oh well
LOL, thats not a military base, thats a Mall!
GOG??
"Your hands are slow, your movements sluggish, your lack of speed, just brings you anguish. Just take a sip, you will move faster. Just try it now! And speed is mastered!"
Hey, did you guys know, that Blaziken100 created a Chatroom first, before Veers created his own?
The Chatroom, by GeneralVeers: created February 17, 2010.
Chatroom Game, by Blaziken100: created December 30, 2009.
Yes.
@morph-
GOG="Good Old Games". It's a site that sells DRM-free versions of old games like Freespace 2. Presumably, they have the Homeworld titles, though I haven't checked.
Anyways, a military exchange isn't actually like a mall. It's much smaller, and instead of having 'stores' that each specialize in a certain area of consumer goods, they have a single building that sells clothing, lawnmowers, weedeaters, televisions, video games, and military uniform supplies.
The main reason for an exchange's existence is to offer an inexpensive place for service members to shop at. Which is nice, since anything sold at a military exchange (or commissary, which is like the grocery store of a military base) has no state taxes on it.
I have a post in it so i assume i did
to each his own?
Oh ok, I thought that GOG stood for a specific game, or something
My "mall" comment was sarcastic
And it must be nice buying everything cheaper. Hey, come to think of it, you Americans buy everything cheaper than us, even with the state taxes, so without these taxes (military prices) you must be buying them at half the price or something, LOL
Well yeah, obviously.
Not quite half price, but it is quite a bit cheaper than the average retail market in the case of food.
For other stuff, probably not quite that much.
I meant half price comparing to normal prices in Greece.
Well, I'm not really sure that the prices are so low that compared to prices in Greece the goods in the exchange are offered at effectively half-price.
But you're Greek, so I should probably trust your judgement here.
Type something on the lines of "Greek Economic Crisis" into google.
That should help you understand Whiskey.
Whiskey, let me know of a few things' prices, and I'll tell you if they're half price. Even they're not half priced, I'm pretty sure its gonna be close, more or less.
Its ok, once we start mass producing cocaine and stuff (drug dealers), we'll be better
At least the common citizens, not the country.
(thats my prediction)
Ah. Well, that will technically be a problem as I don't do the shopping.
I s'pose it comes with the 'only underage' territory .
Being underage is awesome
Enjoy it while you can.
Did you guys know, that in Greece there is no law prohibiting underage people from consuming alcoholic beverages?
Which means that a 12 year old kid may drink as much as they like, and legally there are no repercussions for it. It is usually up to the parents to prevent their children from drinking alcohol.
That is not fair. i'm 15 and I can't drink (although i don't intend to when i can)
I know but it never got off the ground so oh well
