just thought I'd share a cheeky little memory cleaning app that I stumbled across:

I run it before loading Elemental and (touch wood) never get any more crashes.
I'm on Vista with 2GB RAM, and after running memory cleaner prior to playing, selecting 'trim processes working set' (whatever the hell that means), and switching off the run in background option, I get silky smooth, solid performance - in the past it was choppy as hell, and would quite often crash after 100 turns or so.

A few people have said 1.09p seems more stable for them. Have you tried 1.09p without memclean? (I haven't experienced any crashes yet on 1.09p, though I haven't played it enough to tell if it's any better for me)
1.09o was pretty good, but improved by memclean
I've not tried 1.09p without memclean
It's reduced my RAM usage, prior to running Elemental, from about 47% to 31%
Well for me O 1.09o was unplayable due to the crashes and p isnt a whole lot better.
I have a lot of CTDs. Sometimes in game, sometimes from the main menu when loading up the game, just about everywhere. I had not thought to try something like this, but if it makes the game finally playable, I going to give it a try.
