I was wondering if they are going to make a sins of a solar empire 2 for in the future because I would think that would be a good Idea who agrees with me?
i would much rather like to see a SOSE 2 than another expansion. At the moment i think sins is a great game but with a new base of coding and with much better systems out there there is just so much farther the game can go where i think atm its almost at its limits of being capable to do. I swear there are tons of molders out there that can agree that the 2gig limit theshold is tight to work with and a new base for the game would be a HUGE step and bring a much newer fresher fan base. The game is great as the rewards and fan base will say so i would stay on the same path and try and improve with what they got.
some ideas would be
: mix in a tad RPG to the RTS with mabey a story / missions ect
: mabey add a first person veiw from certain ships that you can engage a battle with a fleet to give orders and than enter persay to take full control of a specific ship mabey caps only or extend to a few most used ships "molders could have a hayday here"
: definitly needs a story line with different paths for those single player games
:raise the gig limit to a max or set an option that allows the user to adjust how much he wants to run 2 4 6 or 8 ect
:a great setting i would love is a ture med ultra combat mods ( each setting would adjust the amount of starting hps a ship would have " as when theres hual failure mabey weapons engines or manuerability may be lossed" as well as ships destroy much faster when sheilds are down.
:add in the dynamic mod to all new games and mabey add some tweeks to it "props to manshooter again"
"entend more on resourses 5 different resourse would be good basic ships need 3 to produse cursisers use 4 types caps need 5 types. 2 higher end types cant be bought through he black market but may be traded amoung allies
add any others you would wish to see
I would like to see SINS II have a 32bit and 64bit executable for obvious reasons.
Better loading.
12 frigs, 12 cruiser, 12 capital capability.Scrolling Technology tree capability for more research.SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN, Campaign Editor, carry over from one map to the next.
Resource-wise, metal, crystal, credits works and is simple. If you get too EVE-Online or X3 Terran Conflict, you have too many to manage much less acquire in a timely manner.
Better fleet layouts akin to Star Trek Armada II.
Better file loading. If I play a 2 player game, why load through everything?
Better Universe -yes, Universe, not just random maps totally disconnected from each other. Here I get a bit nostalgic for EVE, but damn it's impressive.
semz i also like the idea of a univere, where you can move from one start system "galx" to the next taking over the entire area sorta like a total war feel zeroing in on seperate areas for the mission/campaign
off topic eve is great but hate p2p X3-TC and reunion are great alts but a tad to much like a simulation to me but the graphics i lean towards when id like to see a 1st person combat veiw from my ships even if its only a veiw mode "would like to see my ships being destroyed 1st hand lol"
Yeah I think that in the original sins game you make the campaign through the skirmish mach like you would in campaign mode.
I for one would love a new expansion. Mainly because as a long times sins player, we were promised 3 expansions, and Ironclad could keep their word.
Sins 2 i think will happen, sins 1 had great sales, and the company turned a profit. A repeat would understandably bring in some more profit! I know i will buy it, and hopefully beta test it.
It's hard to say if they'll be a Sins-2. One factor that no one has mentioned yet is the anticipated amount of sales for Sins-2. Just because Sins received some media hype and sold well doesn't mean that the publishers project good sales for a Sins-2. What if the expansions didn't sell well? (I don't think it's a huge stretch to conclude that purchasers who would be interested in Sins-2 would have bought the expansions and that those who didn't care enough about Sins to buy the expansions might not be interested in Sins-2.)
We all love the game as evidenced by our activity here on the forum, so it might be hard for us to conceive that (possibly) most Sins purchasers disliked (or were less than enthused about) the game. However, consider how little activity this forum has and how little activity there is for online multiplayer. What does that tell you?
I love Sins and think it's an awesome game, but that doesn't mean that other buyers felt that way. It's possible that behind closed doors Ironclad and Stardock think that making a Sins-2 is a bad investment.
Micro expansions were death for the online portion of the game. The community for games like this typically consists of the online gamers. Not really indicative of sale levels a few years after release. Sins did very well, the expansions, probably not so much, but expansions rarely do anything resembling the original sale levels. Sins was a gold mine.
If there isn't a second it's because the devs don't want to rehash the setting, not because of sales expectations. The old, pre-expansion numbers were 500k copies on a sub million dollar budget, a 1000% profit margin would be a good guess for what came of the venture. If you can do half that after sinking twice as much into expanding and updating the game for a second release, you've still made obscene returns on your investment. The bean counters like established franchises, they're predictably profitable. Even ones that are expected to do little more than break even have a better shot of being made than a new title of risky pedigree.
I would be willing to bet just about anything that, barring some sort of horrible disaster that causes IC and/or SD to go out of business, there will be a Sins 2 at some point. Not necessarily any time soon, IC is working on their secret land-based RTS, but eventually. As psychoak said, it was way too successful for there not to be a sequel. I'm also fairly certain that at various times IC and SD have said that they aren't done with Sins yet, although IC wants to take a break from it for a while.
IIRC, Entrenchment did very well, but it was also over budget (I'm pretty sure that's what they said around release). I would assume Diplomacy/Trinity also did very well, but tried to stay more in line with the budget (hence the occasional comments about it being lacking compared to Entrenchment).
kyigre12 i complete agree with you,
also as it was mentiond just like most games you cant compare a expansion sales to the main game sales theres always a seadly declain as each expansion proceeds. since theres a falling out of players and such or the game just gets shelved. but as i said if the game stands by its key elements and trys to bring new freash features to the table that are possible that werent during the first run and much updating i belive just as many games sales with exceal and possible surpace the origanal. But to do this they really need to highly expand on what they already have, maintain the RTS but make you want to cry and jump out the window when that marza gets destroyed. by such as you could have captains admerals ect that you may move from ship to ship by some sorta docking features giving the game a much more rpg feel allowing you to feel persay for certain ships. where atm its just "ahh make another one"
these personal ppl may be given 1 at the start and others demend from surving battles a ship getting so many kills ect. This also opens a door for new bonuses ect as 1 cap may get higher speeds another higher firpower better cult repeal ect list is almost endless.allowing for an even more rts by putting certain crews amoung a squad
Nothing...
6 month after release, Stardock/Ironclad have sell 500k sins copy... 4/5 was retail... People who have buy the Kalipso version ( european version ) use mainly the Kalipso forum, and in some case, a fan local forum in their own language...
About online game, some are playing it in LAN or simply using a other system that ICO...
In a interview, it was say :
"Will there be a larger commercial expansion to the original game? Perhaps even a full-fledged sequel? Wardell admitted to nothing today but did say that fans of the original game should know that the future of the series is looking good."
Well, for speak of a "series", you need minimum a Sins II...
To my knowledge, Trinity is really hitting the whole world... this time, for the release of Trinity, there was much more review in computer press, the game was more easy to find in store, etc... Trinity have a 88.17% ranking on gamerankings.com , rank 6 for 2010 PC game ...
so it might be hard for us to conceive that (possibly) most Sins purchasers disliked (or were less than enthused about) the game.
Well, if it was the case, it is not show on place like Metacritic ( http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/sins-of-a-solar-empire )... Metascore is not important, but the users score remain great...
Pretty sure that a sins II will exist someday... when and by who is the unknow ...
I'd like to see an official universe myself. Maybe not necessarily a playable with 100% everything, but I'd still like to see the regular maps being given a location in the Sins universe and some background as to its history.
Anybody here played Dawn of War: Dark Crusade? Remember how you could bring up info on the provinces. I really liked that. Gave the scenarios some much needed life.
Doing the same for Sins is pretty easy.
And trust me, it does improve the game.
PLEASE make a Sins of a solar Empire 2!!!
with great damage model for all vessels and great graphics. it would be a top seller!
It would also be greate to travel where you want and not just in the Phase lanes.
I would love to see a SOSE 2 with a single player storyline!
I think they definitely need to make a campaign for it because tons of people have clamored for one. I'd like to see them come up with some sort of a way to include encouragement to try it in online multiplayer as part of the campaign, near the end of the campaign perhaps. Maybe an optional path on the campaign could require players to get online and play a couple games against human opponents and be on the winning team to move forward in the campaign. It could be set up to automatically match players against other people who are also doing the campaign.
It would also be good if the game came with a campaign editor so that enthusiasts could make their own campaigns that other people could freely download and play. Like custom maps and mods, it would be a way for the developers to add value to the intellectual property without having to do any or much work on their own.
Well actually I would want to see a Galactic civlizations 3 first than sins of a solar empire 2.
They're developed by different companies (Stardock and Ironclad). They're not mutually exclusive.
this would be a bad idea, and it would take forever to move between planets. good try though
I could care less about a single player story line. I say keep that idea locked away for a movie.
Wait...a Sins movie!?
(I really just can't help myself.)
that. could. possibly be. incredibly awesome.
I'd like to see a persistant online hexmap ala SFC 2/3 that we can use to conquer systems. Players can jump in for their empire otherwise a comp does it.
Make it large enough that nobody can conquer the entire map in one night.
I think in the next game the devs should include whatever is chasing the vasari.
now i know you will be thinking OP! OP! but to balance this, we could have it so that for every ancient enemy player on one team, there has to be 3 non-ancient enemy players on the other team. OR, there could be an Alliance faction player (Vasari Rebel, TEC Loyalist, and Advent Rebels) for every ancient enemy player. i don't know what techs the suggested new factions might have, but i'll leave that to the devs.
MooSephei says,
Clan {STARBASE} is recruiting! I have no experience creating websites!
So, any news on an SOSE2?
The unique feature that a SOASE 2 would need, it should be ground combat. Some similar to the old Imperium Galactica. With it, it would be the best of these games.
There are many great features available to you once you register, including:
