Hey,
I have a strange black stripe, appearing in the background, if there is any other application or dock above the undermost of the screen.
It appears when I move the cursor over the dock and goes from the top of the topmost application (e.g. my cd art display or rainmeter picture show) straight to the undermost dock. its nearly transparent and as thick as the whole dock, when moving the cursor over it.
If there is only one dock or no other app, the stripe doesnt appear.
what to do in that case?
thx for helping,
Thomas
edit: sorry for false posting.
using ObjectDock Plus 2.0
Looks like you have a Dock there, Uncle Tom. Open the OD Config window and examine your settings.
What do you mean by:
There is NO dock!
I made some pictures:
Same with two docks on on side of the screen.
The Stripe is drawn to the app below or above the dock, on which the cursor shows.
If there is only one dock (witout other apps) there also no bar in the background
If there are two docks (without other aps) the bar is drawn to the other dock
When i move the others apps away, the bar doesnt appear.
Hope u see what I mean...

Are you certain that OD2 installed correctly? Did you have an anti-virus or a firewall on at the time you downloaded and installed it?
Also....you have (in the config window) 5 docks. Could you show a screen shot with all 5 docks showing? Does the bar appear when you mouse over the right border of your screen?
Theese ARE Screens with ALL Docks on it
Left = Applications
Right= Shut Down
TOP (3!) = Clock, CPU-Monitor and Vu-Meter
The bar ONLY appears when moving over an ICON.
It doesnt appear when i move over the background only.
maybe the transperency setting produces some kind of error.
I deactivated all others apps with transpernce effects, but still its the same...
I do always have anti virus and fire wall on during all my downloads and installings.
nevr before figured out any problems with that.
Maybe something went wrong.
So i could try re installing -.-
I count 5 docks in your screenshot (one partially hidden at the bottom), and 5 in the config window but only if you count the bars as docks. What I'm saying is that those bars are docks (I believe) but because of installation problems might be showing up incorrectly. Sorry I don't know enough German to explain this.
Before uninstalling, make sure your drivers are up to date.
Then, uninstall OD2 through Impulse.
Make sure you reboot after uninstalling.
Then reinstall without the firewall and your antivirus...turn them off. Which antivirus are you using?
I will reinstall the way you told.
Do you mean the graphic card drivers?
i use avast (free antivirus)
Look at the edited response and the screen shot and see if it is correct, please.
All graphics drivers...yes. Also, turn off Avast and any firewall.
My bad...
1. Rainmeter (other App in style of my desktop)
2. My App-Dock (Anwendungen)
3. My Restart-Dock (Papierkorb)
4. Mysterious Background Stripe^^
5. -.- I had placed GIMP there to keep it off screen for that screenshot^^
IVE UPDATED ALL SCREENS IN ABOVE POSTS!
I marked on all 3 screens above ALL docks, please have a look at ALL, the clock Dock (Uhr) is only on 2 screens and it is lying over the CPU-Monitor-Dock .
The Clock (Uhr) is normally not seen on the Desktop, therefore those 2 docks seem to lay over eah other.
Rainlender Calender-App in style of my desktop
Here are your 5 docks:
Either you have a borked installation or you have hidden docks that aren't appearing. Make sure not to save any settings for docks when you uninstall.
^ sorry. I was making the screenshot while you posted.
I think the driver check/update might be the problem, and I would do the uninstall/re-install. Make sure not to save any settings.
I reinstalled now.
I updated the nvidia driver, deleted all those OD-Folders in Documents, AppData, Program Files, used Jv16 Power Tools to delted traces of Object Dock in Registry, turned of fire wall, turned off avast, booted after each step (also several times) and then installed again.
But nothing changed.
I tried to boot without all other apps starting with windows, and suddenly it worked fine.
Trying out App by aApp i found this answer:
The Transparency Settings of Rainmeter (not the fade in option) produces this error, if a gadget of rainmeter is above or below any dock od OD.
when u move it a bit, the stripe disappears after reboot.
or if you put transparency of rainmeter back to 100% it disappears without reboot.
So the solution seems to be not using transparency with rainmeter and object dock...
No nice solution, but indeed this is one...
Oh no...
the same with tranparency settings of CD Art Display and MiniLyrics... -.-
When I turn them to 100 %, there is no stripe, with eg. 70% the Stripe is there...
This seems to be a problem of OD...
Uncle Tom, I'd definitely turn with this problem to Stardock Support...and direct them to this thread. The address is support@stardock.com
There is a software conflict.... or interaction. Seems they all work via a common path.
One thing I'd like you to try is Nexus Dock. You can find it at http://www.winstep.net . You can get a trial edition and see if there are similar problems with it, although I doubt there will be.
Give it a shot and please let me know what the result is. OK?
That won't help, Doc. I noticed the same thing when I moved Nexus to the same edge as OD a while back when I needed the top edge free. 8800GT with the latest nVidia drivers. 260.99With the Nexus Dock on the same screen edge as OD you get this:
My solution was to not put them on the same side. The fact is, I rarely use both at once. I don't see any shadow when I have a widget, Perfect Clock or anything else anywhere on the screen, just the two docks as I described.
(and yes, I have a sidebar on Win7, it's a sidebar gadget)
Great. Well, It won't be the first time nVidia drivers played havoc with things. Odd, but no one's mentioned these problems in some time.
Where's the Taskbar and what is the DPI set at?
So I hope I have to do nothing further,I am little bit tired of trying out all those things today.
Tomorrow i will send a message to the support.
But I think the Nexus thing isnt necessary to try out, because Wizard did before^^.
Not 2 docks on one side - nearly impossible for me^^
I turned of the transparency of the other apps...
Thanks for being that patient, DrJBHL and for all the help with that.
If there is anything left, you want me to do, tell me please.
I will do this tomorow.
For now I will solve a huge problem with some beer, waiting in the freezer
@ wizard: nice cat btw
@ yrag was this meant to me? I dont know what you could mean with that... -.- My task bar is at the bottom (windows) and dpi oO dont know, sry, where to look for that?
Yes. What did you use to hide the taskbar? Control Panel\Display\Set custom text size (DPI). How many pixels per inch?
This doesn't appear to be Win 7.... is it?
Uncle Tom... you're welcome, and sorry I couldn't help.
Please answer yrag. He's really amazing with computer help, and knows more than Gates about Windows.
I didnt change anything there with the dpi.
Its the normal Windows 7 hide Taskbar-feature.
Its hidden at the bottom of the screen.
Un-check DPI-Skalierung im Stil von Windows XP verwenden. Re-boot
Unchecked it, rebooted, but its all the same
little bit dark the background
im on a birthday from a neighbour for 1 or 2 hours... i tune in later
OK.... are you running any 64 bit apps? My guess is it's Rainlendar. It's either 'Events or To-do" lists stuck open in transparency. Un-install it or delete the present skin.ini file loaded. You also mentioned "gadget". I see no indication of one. If 'Sidebar.exe' is running, kill it.
Genießen Sie die Geburtstagsparty....
sorry for being late...
I did ^^
No - no 64 Bit apps running (as far as I know - I do always choose 32 bit)
I deleted ALL autostart with windows orders, so no app starts with windows atm, ONLY OD!
When I choose transparency for one dock as in the picture, the stripe appears (with no other desktop app running, as u can see on the screen)
I dont use sidebar or such things
