Greetings!
My reign of terror has come to an end. Now, Kael’s reign of terror begins.
I’m not disappearing entirely but after v1.1, Derek Paxton (Kael) will be calling the shots on the day to day on the game and design implementation (at Stardock, the Project Manager aka Producer is the god of the game). I’ll be returning to my traditional role at Stardock on our games (AI and high level design input).
We’re working to get a beta of v1.1 out the door as soon as possible so people can start seeing the improvements we’ve been making for the past few weeks.
With that said, it is my honor to introduce you to Derek Paxton. Prior to joining Stardock, he was a Project Manager at Novell and known to many gamers as the creator of the Civilization IV mod expansion, Fall from Heaven.
I know that, your talking to the number 1 Procipinee fanboy/stalker here
I for one am excited about the prospect of a 1.1 beta, though I am definitely in the camp of people who would love to see a semi definitive list of changes. Would really help me figure out in advance what I am going to have to change with my mods.
Oh. Sorry didn't know.
I love Fall From Heaven. That gives me a lot more hope for a game that has already dropped in price while the bugs are still being worked out. Thanks for FFH Kael, you rock!
(no offense Frogboy)
Ding dong! The wicked witch is dead. Thank Buddha!
C'mon...just kidding...having a little fun.
Thanks to everyone for the good wishes. I just spent my first day onsite with the folks at Stardock and I had a great day. It’s a team of brilliant people and I’m honored to join them. Any job that uses Monty Python trivia to test new hires is okay by me.
I’m currently in the process of interviewing the elemental team members for feedback. After I get that I will incorporate it with feedback from this forum and my own experience to build a post 1.1 design doc and implementation plan. We have big ideas for Elemental and I’m excited both to play the game once we get these ideas in, and to work on the project.
Thanks to the folks at Stardock for welcoming me so warmly, and to Brad for offering me this opportunity. Now I’m off to work!
The tyrant is dead! Love live the tyrant!
Excellent. Looking forward to see what you all have been up to.
And now its official.
"so it starts"- lion king game for SNES
So, if I'm getting this right ... 1.1 will have been primarily under Brad's design direction?
Yeah, 1.1 is supposed to be the last of his "producer-ing". Then he hands responsibility and opportunity over to Pax and Kestral for patches and expansions. Obviously he is still involved (AI, campaign, owner) but has less say over the general direction.
Its party time. Brad`s terror is now complete. So lets move on. Bring on 1.1
Freebird out of the birdcage for the moment.
Good luck, Kael.
I for one welcome our new overlord.
Hail to the King!
surely the launch wasn't that terrifying...
Oh I get it....
Anyway welcome Derek
Ah, I could never work at Stardock then.
Now if it was Doctor Who trivia...
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
Is your name not Bruce?
Welcome aboard Kael!
Bring forth the condemned! I mean, uh, welcome, Kael!
Welcome to Michigan, Kael! You're going to love it here. Great people abound. Just give us a shout out if you need to know about any good places to haunt.
Oh, and sorry about the Lions. If you're here for any significant length of time, you'll find yourself hopelessly drawn to them and will become a fan. Their misery will become part of your being.
After I get that I will incorporate it with feedback from this forum and my own experience to build a post 1.1 design doc and implementation plan.
So long as there aren't any Pyre Zombies.
Pyre Zombies are a bitch!
Almost every mod mod changes Pyre Zombies in some fashion.
Usually it has the Blast ONLY affect the dude they were specifically fighting, and give PZ's extra bonuses to compensate.
But yea, PZs and Life 2 are the last two Vestiges of the old system (Light and Fire) in base FFH. (Fire was one of my favorite versions actually) ... especially the last patch of Fire, magnifique
They work in the current Ice ... but in an expanded system sometimes measures are taken.
For instance ... nerfing PZs and Boosting the Demon Gates.
And having (Nations with no living, demon, or angel units ... aka all their units are undead) to have some extra defense vs Life 2.
Monty python trivia? fess up, tell all....
All hail the new King!!
... just don't make Elemental too much like FFH2, I did buy Elemental after all, not FFH: The Game .
