I don't mind so much other types of DRM (such as in KB:AP), but the activation limits really stop me from getting the Crossworlds expansion right now.
Best regards,Steven.
Steam version doesnt have any 3rd party DRM - it was confirmed by publisher.
All other services (AFAIK) have either StarFoce or Securom - both with 3 activations
I don't think Beamdog has any but I don't know if their copy works with retail on the original or not.
Stardock, would you consider making KB: Crossworlds available on Impulse without any activation requirement except being attached to an Impulse account, since you need to have the game attached to a specific Impulse account anyway for the game to download and install? (Or are there other specific requirements that the publisher/developer require for the game to be distributed on a particular DD service?) I would like to buy the game on Impulse - I already own KB: The Legend and KB: Armored Princess on Impulse and want to get Crossworlds for the Campaign Editor - but I don't want to buy it off Steam and am not buying it while it has activation limits (however I have nothing against tying the download to a specific Impulse account).
Stardockians, what do you think?
The publishers are the ones you need to blame for the DRM, not the DD services.
Just say no sale, let them know why, and get something else. What I've done. There's enough good games out there, that no one game is necessary.
So the reason why it is on Steam with no activation is because Steam itself is a DRM?Best regards,Steven.
I haven't seen that Crossworlds uses Steamworks, however the Steam page for it says you need Armored Princess on Steam in order to play, so you wouldn't be able to get it there either, I imagine.
