Hello,
I thought to myself prior to elemental coming out that it was going to be a game I would get for sure. Then the game hit, in the state that it was, and so I was really dissapointed and left it. It's not uncommon for this to happen, there have been plenty of games that have done the same thing.
Normally that's the end of the story, but here I am looking at joystiq every day, noticing this Brad Wardell fellow popping up all the bloody time making these promises, then to my shock, inch by inch delivering.
The latest set of patches and planned 1.1 release, combined with his offer to provide 2 free expansions really did it for me, paid and playing now.
So congratulations and being the first game company to do that for me. I should also say thank-you, because I am having loads of fun.
Great game, I don't generally get too sucked in to just any 4x game, but this one has a real character to it, the feel of it is really good, not bombarded with too many stats, good general game play systems and the world is great. I really like it. More world interaction (events?) would be great tho!
Tactical combat is a bit of a let down, it really should go to hex's rather than squares (i'm fine with squares on main game) just to add some more tactical positioning options. But tactical issues are really not that big of a deal for me, I auto battle a fair bit.
The interface could be better, but I'm ok with it. And you have some good things coming up, so that cool. You really need to show movement path's for future turn movement - it really had me confused at the start.
Well done to you're programmers, I've had no crashes and only had one bug - in tactical combat an archer was on a preset movement path at the beginning of the turn and because the position he was to move to had just been filled by a hero, it bugged with the archer's run animation going but him not being able to move, this then stopped me from doing anything with any unit... Luckily the one button that did work was 'auto complete battle', which resolved the battle and I was able to get by without reloading.
I'm a happy customer. But please, keep on comming with the improvements! I hope you get plenty of sales over the next few days, I have a feeling you will.

Congratulations on discovering elemental is not as bad as early review would have led you to believe (as of 1.09 it's very playable). although to be fair the 1.0 - 1.06 versions they reviewed where pretty unstable and less fun than the current version, but stardock are indeed delivering on fixing the game.
I believe that they are planing on addressing tactical combat post 1.1 so you should see improvements there, not sure a hex system would be my recommendation though.
Hi, yes, discovery has been very fun.
Sounds good. Bring on 1.2 then.
I've played quite a few hex and square tile tactical combat games, mostly board games however. I prefer hex for tactical/any turn based combat. There are many reasons, and to be honest a lot of those reasons involve tactical features that are not a part of Elemental anyway, so i guess it doesn't matter. If they really work on changing the tactical combat system, I think that the benifits will be obvious.
But it's fun enough as is, without really the need to a proper tactical combat system.
Hi all, I will hijack this thread for a moment instead of making my own which will basically be same as this one.
I was told by a friend about this game about a month ago. I started following the patch development from that point and decided to buy it in November after they announced 1.1. But since they just wrote we get 2 free expansion if we buy it before 31.10. (from Europe ) well I own it now, birthday present came early this year
Anyways, I am an older gamer whose 1st 4x game was Civilization 1. But the game that really made me spend countless hours by my computer was (you guessed it right from my forum name ) Master of Magic. That is why I own this game now. Although I am not planning to play it until 1.1 is out.
I do not buy many games and really choose what I want to spend my money on (last two games were Dragon Age and Starcraft 2). But I like to support developers when they deserve it. Like I bought The Witcher Enhanced Edition some years ago I decided to support Stardock now. Must say Frogboy is the most amazing game company manager I have seen in my whole history of playing games and reading their forums. Your passionate updates on the homepage made decide to buy this in the end instead of pirate it (free expansions only made me buy it earlier, didn't really influence the decision to buy or not).
Anyways I hope this game becomes better and in 10 years I can have fond memories of this game in a same way I have with MoM. And hopefully eventually we will get an other world in this game to play with like we had in MoM
Also hope to see monster races and other cool stuff from MoM come into this game as well.
