Welcome to the 2nd Demigod Community Tournament Scheduling Thread
Here's a link back to the rules and registration thread: http://forums.impulsedriven.com/396231
Please use this thread to schedule your matches. Remember, all teams are responsible for hosting and scheduling their own matches!
There will be a need to disqualify teams that aren't making the required effort to get their games in without penalizing another team that's doing whatever they can to get a match scheduled. It's probably best if teams that are trying to organize matches go on record in the forums. For instance, if I wanted to get a game going against AtMa and Ba, I'd post something like the following in this thread:
Atma + Ba: trouser and pacov are generally available M-F from 5pm EST - 1AM EST. Please let us know if some time in that slot would work for you or recommend a time slot that works. I'll PM you in a few days if I haven't heard from you or we can discuss this on lagwars vent.
Something like that. If it comes down to disqualifying teams because they didn't get their match in, the more info and tracking you have indicating that you did your best to get the match scheduled the better.
And remember, you can use this thread, use pm's on the forums, use the lagwars vent, whatever method you want to get your games going.
So, all of that said, I'd like to kick things off and start checking in on folks availability for Saturday (10/16). Ideally, I'd like to get as many people on at the same time on 10/16 and just get some games going to kick the tournament off.
Please use the following spreadsheet to update your availability: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AvMuQE400v-JdHBSQUxRUXZZUFlrUXBrc295bFd1RFE&hl=en&authkey=CKC6regB#gid=0
Let's just pull a name out of a hat and have Stardock give that team $500. That would be no different then carrying on with the tournament if we were disqualified and you won.
oh boy...
God these are the times I really fucking hate you shane. You wouldn't play if the tables were turned and you lost orcun and had to play with a shitty pug teammate. I would be glad to beat the shit out of you and renz if you had shit third any day of the week.
Its really easy to talk shit when your the team without a pug you putz.
Lol actually that's incorrect, I'd be disappointed but I'm not going to cry about it and not play at all. If we had lost Orcun it would likely be Koush or Magnus coming back so if you were able to "beat the shit" out of Renz and I with whoever our third was I'd definitely congratulate you.
Edit-> This was to cow, didn't expect someone to sneak a post in before I clicked send
hehehe. I missed Demigod's forums.
Suggestion.. (not sure if this has been raised already)
I know this was a 3v3 tourney but if you are missing players and both teams agree can't you just play a 2v2 to finish these games up? Then no team requires a "shit" pug...
I will now duck for cover whilst the abuse flies my way.
Doggu - please don't take any offense from cow's comments here or in the other thread where I asked you to join us as an alternate. Some folks are just a little heated is all. Having anyone as a replacement on our team with little to no time to practice before going into the toughest games of the tournament puts us as a disadvantage. And its the same sort of disadvantage we'd have with anyone, be it you, or-chin, mcshane, etc. Our team's greatest strength came from skill level + familiarity with playing with our teammates. Anyway, try not to see any of this as a jab towards you... folks are just... quite annoyed/angry... I understand that anything other than being thankful that you might join us as an alternate on short notice is somewhat insulting, but I really think cow's comments came as a result of frustration with the situation and in no way reflect his opinion of you as a player.
Anyway, that said, I don't think 2v2 is going to a be a viable option. We will sort something out, though.
I miss your tb teseer
Gunna have a lot more time on my hands. Might be back soon
God will I suck though, lol.
nah I don't take offense lol...I just thought the wording was funny.
It was just a suggestion as then the familiarity stays with the team. As you say is very important and seems as though there is an emphasis for it to be over.
2 people of the decision making pressured me out of nowhere to find a date to play within 2 days in the busiest week of the year. I invested time and searched for an alternate and showed up to a date both teams agreed to (wednesday 5:30 pm EST, only cow was online and said he will not play). Since I'm not in the decision making panel I have no power to comfort my team with votes of when to set deadlines. Mcshane did it for orcun, Pacov does it now for soccermom.
To make my point clear, whatever happens, I am totally fucked either way, if you guys keep putting random deadlines without reasonable time for notice. So please keep that in mind when setting the next deadlines and threatening people with disqualifications as the above quotes show.
no - you aren't screwed zen. Anyway, I confirm that zen was in channel at the appointed time and he indicated that his team was ready to play.
Yeah... I love that my team dropped before this (and pug players shouldn't be called like that cow... especially doggu...)
We started this tourney about 3 months ago and the way it was planned, " 2 forced matches per week" it was supposed to be over quite a while ago. We as a team played the most matches for the tourney, was almost always available for matches, never rejected any game offer and never backed out after scheduling for a match and we played well over twice a week until there was no team left to play.
So we played it by the rules but things didn't go organized which happens and OTHER teams couldn't get their games in and the tourney seemed to be going longer. So i mentioned that i am leaving on around 20th of December quite a while ago ( If the teams would have went on playing at least 1 match every week by the time i mentioned we would still be over with the tourney).
Yes, neither the World nor the tourney definitely doesn't revolve around me but the thing is the Tournament should have been over long ago and that would have been the case if other teams have been as loyal as us to the scheduling.
So Zen_ God, sorry but i don't see any logical reason for you to propose for Shane and Renz needing to look for an alternate under the circumstances. It is ridiculous, to say the least to be honest.
So Tourney is supposed to last a certain time period given the fact that there was a forced rule for teams to play. So team A plays all their games, finishes them on the right time and on top of it manages to win more games than any other team with higher win ratio and has won the majority of their games against the remaining teams in the finals. Then at the last quarter of the toruney, team B,C,D doesn't schedule their games in the pre-given time(once again not due to date i am leaving but what was talked way before) due to whatever reason and when team A can't no longer play, they(whoever) say ok we can do the finals after team A can't play any longer.
Although Shane is right in every way asking people to finish the tourney before i leave. I agree that DQ'ing people or playing with alternates is no way to end the tourney. I joined the tourney to get good games and luckily i got what i was looking for to some extend. I really don't care how the money is distributed or if i get any money.
So yeah, if you guys want to carry over the money and make a new tourney with it afterwards it's all good. If it's after i get back, which will be around 20th of January, i'll gladly join again to play some good games. If the next tourney held before i get back, then good luck to all teams and i hope it will be a good one. If you guys want to do the finals after i get back, that's completely fine for me as well. If you guys wanna play the finals of this particular tourney without me forcing my team to find an alternate, that is some....bullshit.
I don't want to play against any team with an alternate on either side because it is just against the idea why i joined the tourney.
My point is, there is absolutely no logical point for Shane or my team to be blamed or penalized for the current situation.
my thoughts exactly.
but... this doesn't answer of the question of what to do.
It's just as ridicoulous to say: hey zengod you have two days to schedule a match or you get disqualified. We don't care you have finals, just find an alternate. I've been trying just as hard as your team, orcun to schedule our matches. 4 out of 5 times now pacov's team did not show up, and my team almost got penalized for that because I am not in the decision making panel to vote for the deadline. Following all that nonsense I turned around to shane that he would have the same issue if I could vote to schedule the games when you are not around orcun. That's all.
Zen, i don't agree with the idea forcing you playing with an alternate, i definitely would not enjoy playing against you guys with an alternate nor anyone but forcing us to play with an alternate is not the same with forcing other teams to play with an alternate under the circumstances because of the thing i mentioned above.
I think we are all in agreement in holding off now and coming up with a new plan. I certainly apologize for my part in amping up the pressure to wrap things up. I think cooler heads have prevailed, etc. We'll sort this out and our demigod lives shall surely move on.
Its soon to be about time to talk about how we are doing our next tourney.
I love how this is out of nowhere and everyone's out to get zen and screw up his finals week and no one cares and no one let zen be on the decision panel so he could make it ok for his team to never play and wah wah wah you're just such a victim. The fact that mith doesn't care anymore really never crossed your mind eh? I could tell Mith was moving on right after you guys played us and that's good for him. Several other teams decided to move on after playing us also. Everyone on my team is also a student, but when all 3 teammates care it's pretty easy to get your games in. The only problems we had in this whole thing were Jon's team not wanting to play when we had a couple of opportunities to do so and then dropping out, and Jona's team because they usually only had 2/3 on when we were. We played pretty close to everyone else without a problem. Anyway, fun times-good tournament, I guess I have a few extra hours to study now too.
let's get back to the what do we do moving forward topic.
Plan the next tournament, that's your specialty.
heh - balls to you, sir. gimme a break... I dreamt that people could competently arrange for 6 people on earth to magically log on to the internet at the same time.
My mistake... but still... live and learn, i guess.
Lol, that was insane thinking on your part.
It did work fine for the 2v2 tourney. That got finished in a week or two, it seemed like. The only teams that dropped out were the ones that simply weren't serious.
Anyway, I think late Jan would be a good target for the next tourney? One that only takes one weekend? (two if a bunch of teams signup).
