Galactic Civilizations II is an award-winning game from Stardock, and in my opinion one of the best turn-based strategy games out there today. If you don’t already have it, or know someone who doesn’t, now is a great time to grab GCII for just $8.95 from Impulse.

That said, this is an excellent offer. I'd take it, if I didn't already have GalCiv2.
Well it's important to note that that's just the base game and that the game didn't really become great until after the 2nd expansion, which will cost you significantly more money. The base game has quite a few issues that the expansion fixes, but which were never patched in the primary game itself.
Note that I'd still recomend buying the full game even at the significantly higher price of $30. But I'd never recomend buying only the base game even at the cheaper price, especially given that you'll still have to shell out a full extra $30 later if you decide you want the full game. It's kind of like spending 9 dollars on a demo.
