So sez the money-minded onlooker, anyway, though I imagine there’s some room for adjustment.
According to one-man Minecraft wonder-king Notch, he’s currently selling a Minecraft account every three seconds. Which in itself is about the greatest “that’ll show you, creators of identical, soulless brown-grey games about shooting soldiers” I can imagine, but on top of that it means he’s earning $13.30 a second. Or $15,000 an hour, Texyt calculate. Or, $300- 350,000 a day.
A day. A day. A day. A day. A day. A day. A day.
Quick calculation of lifetime earnings, based on the number of purchasers listed here: he’s earned $3,554,638 from Minecraft to date. But add $13.30 a second to that.
First up: congratulations, sir, you totally deserve it. That neither the ‘but it looks kinda crude!” sentiment or the slight ‘oh, it’s what all those achingly hip young Twit-witterers are on about so I’m not going to play it out of spite’ backlash have harmed his fortunes is wonderful. It’s an incredible game, and we keep on posting about it here with good reason.
Secondly: it’s very unlikely to sustain those kind of levels (which hit a high of around 26,000 in a single day) for that much longer, so he’s probably not going to be buying more than one island. However, the price is going up to $15 once the current alpha version becomes beta, so he’s got a fair whack of cash yet to come.
A day. A day. A day. A day.

What can I say? Amazing....isn't it?
Worst. Decision. Ever.
I have a few friends playing Minecraft, but I don't want to get into it just yet. Too many other games to play. Once there's a lull in a couple months I'll buy it. It does look extremely interesting though.
Bara
Don't buy it if you have other games to play / work to do.... Don't say we did not warn you...
It is amazing how much gameplay is in here, just use your fantasy. And it only will get better!
Addictive indie computer game Minecraft was knocked off it's little block wheels yesterday apparently by a group of self-identifying disenfranchised Minecraft players demanding more updates from the game's creator.
Developer Notch writes that the game's servers are getting hammered by a distributed denial of service, or DDOS, attack.
"A real world example would be running up to the cashier at a super market and paying in small coins, counting every single one really slowly, then finding out at the end you didn't have enough in the first place," Notch wrote on his Tumblr today. "The "Distributed" means it's done from a lot of places at the same time, so it's much harder to simply deny access to the clients that do that. Usually this is done via computers infected with trojans, so people participate in this without even knowing they're doing it.
"As to why minecraft.net is being targeted, I'm not sure."
A post on 4chan claiming responsibility for the attack says that the group launched the DDOS because they want more updates from Notch. They also point out they are not active 4chan members or people from rival games.
Here's the full statement. Do keep in mind we have no way of knowing whether these really are the people behind the ongoing attack.
Minecraft is currently experiencing a stimulation provided by us. It's purpose is to send Notch a clear message of how the future of minecraft will turn out unless he gets to work, namely by influencing the amount of sales taking place, due to the attacks. Start providing your customers with the updates that you promise them. We have roughly 83,000 bots available, and preserved for this seizure, we could if we wanted to keep this going for weeks, however we have decided to give it a week, and see whether or not your attitude, and commitment will change, we believe it will when money stops rolling in for the time being... anyhow, no we're not from roblox, or any other minecraft clone, not to mention none of us have been around 4chan for years, and nor has any real 4channers for that matter, its all newfags now, and has been for quite a few years." Is the official quote. I don't know the origin of the quote, but it is happening.

So if you're missing your daily Minecraft fix, just keep in mind that you can apparently blame other Minecraft fans for the problem.
Probably a PR stunt to bring even more attention to the game.
I really hate people like that. They paid a fraction of a cost of a full game for access to an alpha and then think they're entitled to something. These people need to take a long, hard look at their lives.
What lives...?
The logic kinda evades me, too. In order to make the game better, you harrass the servers so that noone (you included) cannot play.If you want to not-play, I could think of a much easier way to achieve that.
And if these people are really trying to extort certain feature from their List Of Demands, threatening to hurt the company if they are not met before sundown, then law enforcement should deal with these common criminals.
No, they can still play. What they're doing is preventing new players from signing up, thereby directly hurting the bottom line for Notch. I really hope he ignores these idiots and goes about doing what he was always doing.
Ah, then the extortion makes more sense at least.
I still wonder which law enforcement agency would be dealing with that kind of business criminality. The whole concept seems so unreal that it simply doesn't fit into my world.
seriously some of the most fun I've had with a computer game(though part of that is because I play on a private server with just a few friends).
It's like an rpg in a world built out of legos, how can it not be awesome?
We had a community server a while back for a different forum I frequent; all we could do was build, and it was enough to keep us entertained for months. When I heard about the Lego MMO, I thought "Minecraft just got owned". Of course, "Lego Universe" is absolute trash, and Minecraft is freaking awesome. When this is further along in development I'll probably pick up a copy; brilliant stuff.
