In case you had the beta and pre-releases option checked on Impulse, your game version will be 1.08b (beta). The lastest fix seems to be 1.08.037.
To get it, do this:
1) Go to Impulse preferences and uncheck 'show pre-release (alpha/beta) versions'. <--this is important!!!
2) Shift-right click Elemental on 'my games' tab, you will see the 'Verify Installation' option. Click it. After it finishes you'll see the message that verification has failed, and at this point it will ask you to re-download the update. (1.08.037)

My splash screen says only 1.08 and my history page indicates 1.08 beta. I tried what you suggested (my show pre release/beta button was already off) and it did not work, indicating that my game verified successfully. Not sure what to do now to get this 1.08.037.
Hm. Odd.
Gunnergoz, try removing some files from your Elemental install directory. Elemental.exe, maybe. Then run verification again?
Thanks for the interest. It turns out that I was looking in the wrong preferences place (in the Windows bottom menu bar popup for Impulse) and not in the top menu bar within the Impulse application itself. This time the verification did fail and I'm now downloading (hopefully) 1.08.037.
OK, my splash screen still shows 1.08 and my history page still reads 1.08 beta. No sign of anything with 1.08.037 on it.
gunnergoz: the splash screen should show 1.08 (with nothing after) and history log will have 1.08 beta if you had it at one point. Those are not the indicators
After it failed verification and re-downloaded, look at the bottom of your games impulse tab while you have Elemental selected. There should be things like:

Move your mouse that it hovers over 1.08 and it will show you the small pop up window the long version number along with the disk space usage. That one should be 1.08.037.
Nice, oddrheia. I did as you said and it worked! I was going to set Elemental aside for a while but now I'm off to try it once more. Hopefully no more crashing! Thanks for the suggestion!

Is there any particular reason this information isn't posted by Stardock? Why did I not know about an update until a community member posted in the forum?
Phaydon - I think that the SD team are taking the weekend off - that's my impression based upon their sparse presence here this weekend. And as for the update, I think it is automatic through Impulse when you go to launch Elemental but a few folks had a problem due to having that checkbox for beta checked and hence the conversation about installing the latest version of the update vs. the beta version. For my part, I had to be educated by others about how to find out which version of the update I had.
I also remember seeing a developer mentioning that there will be an update that will install over 1.08b without the abovementioned hassle on Monday, so really this one is just to tide some folks over .
