The tournament began on 10/16/2010. Please be aware that this tournament will not begin and end on 10/16/2010. It will actually take several weeks to complete.
Background
In April 2010, we started our first community demigod tournament. The tournament was 2v2 and certain demigod selections were restricted. The tourney carried a crash prize donated by people in the community and was won by the two man team of zen_god and King_of_thorns. For more details on that tourney, read up here: (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/380837).

Prize
There will be a cash prize > $600. Jongalt will be handling the collection of the money for this tournament. We are discussing the prize money in this linked thread: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/398009. We appreciate any contributions to the prize. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY TO PLAY IN THIS TOURNEY.
Here is how we will be splitting the winnings from the pot:
Demigod Selection
Each 3 man team must use the following formula to make their Demigod character selections based on a 7 point maximum. Be aware that no duplicate demigods are permitted on the same team. This means you cannot choose random.
Tournament Time Zone
The official time zone of the tournament is set for EST US time. Players that are outside of that timezone are certainly welcome to play. However, if there are significant scheduling difficulties due to players unable meet at the same time, the team furthest outside of the EST zone will most likely be disqualified or forfeit that match. This rule does not excuse folks in the EST zone from any responsibility. All parties in this tournament should endeavor to schedule their matches with other teams and try to be as flexible as possible.
Decision Making Panel
This tournament will be governed by a decision making panel consisting of pacov, McShane, hedgie with Jongalt as an alternate. The panel's purpose is as follows:
The panel's decision on all matters will be the final word for this tournament. And last, the members of the decision making panel will not make any decisions on the games they are playing in. We didn't have a panel in place for the first tournament and that was a mistake.
How will we handle crashes
If there is a game crash, the players involved in that match should see if they can come to a consensus on the probable outcome of the match. If there is no clear winner, the 2 teams should replay the match using the exact same demigods and sides (light/dark). If there was a clear winner at that point in the game, then that team should be awarded the win. If the 2 teams disagree on the outcome, then the decision making panel will review the replay of the match and render a decision. Be aware that the decision making panel must agree that a specific team was going to win or the results will be thrown out and the match redone. Please be thoughtful if you want the panel to review a match.
How we will handle invalid game states
The lastgamereplay file is still created in the event of an invalid game state, so it is still possible to review the results of a match. In the event of an invalid game state, players should attempt to resolve the issue exactly the same way as game crashes. If you believe foul play occurred, submit the replay along with any screen shots, etc, as evidence and the decision making panel will review. If there is a CLEAR consensus that a team is willingly triggering invalid game states, that team will be disqualified after a thorough review of the facts and will no longer be able to participate in the tournament. If your game does crash, it might be advisable to take a screen shot of the crash as proof. Be aware that we know invalid game states can occur without any sort of foul play, so please be mindful when submitting requests for review.

Registered Alternates:
Please be aware that other players are elligible to be an alternate based on the rules outlined in the alternates section. I've simply left this list here so teams will know at least a few of the players that might be available as alternates.
For any of you that would like to use it, we have a public ventrilo (voice chat) server that you are welcome to use for the tournament. Even if you don't have a microphone, if only 1 person on your team does, it can be very useful to use voice chat (at least 11 of the registered teams will be using voice chat. Why not you too?
Here's all of the info you need to get started:
Here is where you can download the client (its free): http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php
Here are instructions on how to use ventrilo to connect to a server: http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php
And here's the needed server info:
Server Name: Lagwar's Ventrilo ServerHostname: oxygen.typefrag.com Port: 50216
I have created some password protected channels for those of you that would like to use the server. Scroll down until you see channel Oh My Demigod. You will then see tournament channel 1/2/3. The password for these channels are demigod. Let me know if you have any questions.
I'm not sure what a "directly" click is. For me it's left-click or right-click. Either way there no link to a file.
Ok, try this:

There we go. Thanks.
Thanks for posting that nom. I updated the OP, so that link works properly as well.
I created a results thread as well - so please post any wins/losses, etc there. http://forums.demigodthegame.com/399047
Updating the OP with that info.
pacov: Posting here in the hopes that Lord_Orion might see it.
Haven't heard from Orion all week. Sure he's just been busy, but on the off chance he stays AWOL, what are the chances of us being able to sign on another teammate?
If any of the unassigned players out there who would still like to be on a team want to play with us, we are currently looking for an alternate and/or a primary teammate if Orion isn't around.
you can sign up one alternate at any point. As long as it conforms to the alternate rules above, it's all good.. and if orion returns, you can still play with him primarily w/e.
The team TSK-ruiprsg/bartleby/nnnils doesnt exist anymore. But there will be two more teams i hope. U can register Bartleby/aberrator and me as a team. Rui might play with TSK-Mandingo and TSK-Kobzos.
Cool guys - I'll add that later today. Please check with rui again if you see him today to confirm that the 2nd team is good.
I am registering for the tournament with the following players...
rwcupcrazy
pwnage_69
nojokes
Removed team - TSK-ruiprsg/bartleby/nnnils - per nnnils request.
Added team - Bartleby/aberrator/nnnils
Added team - rwcupcrazy/pwnage_69/nojokes
the new team to tourney is
tsk-mandingo/ruiprsg_/kobzos
and plz tell me about the hour we go play because the time diference in country´s ok?
i think i have 6 or 7 hour´s to mandingo kobzos is ok
thk and sorry for this change to all player´s and comunity.
Pacov, please do me a favor and adjust the list above. I would like it to match the tracking spreadsheet and its a lot easier for you to adjust yours lol
thanx
That's no prob, Jon. Updating now.
Rui - its up to your team to coordinate when you can play together and try to schedule your own matches. The good news is you can catch a lot of us on vent to schedule.
OK guys - registration SHOULD officially close in 5 minutes - I'm going to extend registration for 2 more hours. But that will be the final cutoff. YOU NEED TO FORM A TEAM IMMEDIATELY IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE.
Registration is now officially closed. You are still able to pick up alternates if you'd like or need to do so. Just play attention to the rules outlined in the OP regarding alternates.
edit - and i just noticed that I don't think we ever finalized the actual total dollar value of the participation prize. If you folks have strong opinions about this, chime back in here and we can discuss. For now, I'm writing it up this way:
I'm honestly not sure if we sorted this out or not, but I welcome feedback. I think the only other option would be to offer a payout to an entire team, drawn at random, and give them each a $20 cash prize.
Oh btw, now that you're at it maybe you could as well correct my nickname up there in the teams roster , it'd be nice to see it written correctly at least once lol
fixed.
Thanks a lot North-American moderacov!
aw shucks. Ok, you are back to good 'ol normal nom now.
That's my boy!
CowBumpZex!
Hey guys, it's been brought to my attention that some of the teams in the tourney are inexperienced with demigod in general and some purchased the game during the recent sale.
This is your opportunity to show that you are a good member of our community, that we aren't DOTA dicks, and are willing to help out new players.
I will not be happy with anyone who belligerently run scores & kills up just for the sake of doing so. Please don't make me unhappy. I'm married, that's her job, not yours
I would expect the elite players to really help the new players out. I might even be impressed if you invite them in to your vent channel to discuss builds, purchase orders and strats.
But most of all don't be a
(i just wanted to use this picture again)
Yeah - I'd hope that wouldn't be happening, jon. For some reason, I don't think anyone should be buying the all father's ring...
Eh It depends.. I can see the allfather's ring paying off greatly. I didn't do it in my game to be like "omfg we're up 100 kills and going to keep squashing you w/out going for the win.. woo crystal farming" the game was actually undecided at the point I got it (although it greatly turned the tide)
Looking for an alternate!!! Our third Teammate, Lord_Orion has been incommunicado for nearly a week now, and Chiefy and I are thinking we're about to get DQed from the tourney if we don't get some games in ASAP. If you are a registered alternate, PLEASE PM me! I am not going to start PMing people because I want someone who is actively on the forums and ready and willing to communicate.
We are mid-level players but are really laid back and easy to play with. (But still pretty competitive, just not dinks about it.)
