Now that were stealing so so many ideas from Rome, total war, why not add it's feature allowing units that have performed outstanding on the field of battle or has reached "legendary" level to become adopted in the dynasty or to be promoted to champions; "Man of the hour". The player of course can choose if he wants to promote the unit to champion status or not.
This is a great idea, and would work fantastically with the ability to marry off your children to NPCs instead of just to the children of faction leaders.
I just want a good dog to educate and become a champion
If it came at the cost of the unit it self, and it promoted a single man to champion it might work. Let the champion keep whatever equipment the unit had, and then disband the unit.
So it becomes a choice, do you keep the unit, or do you keep the champion.
I like this idea.
I don't think accusing them of stealing ideas from other games is a good way to persuade them though. There are bound to be mechanics in common with games of similar genres- it doesn't mean anyone's ripping them off.
Excellent idea!
... that being the "Man of the Hour" from the Total War series and not the dog. I always enjoyed it when that happened and it'd add a little more depth to units.
I agree 100% on this, good idea and I beleive it's an idea we all have been thinking about.
I like this.
I don't see any reason why you couldn't have both the unit and the champion. Units recover members lost in combat so why wouldn't they do the same with promotions?
I'd like a ceremony as in knighthood to take place and the character gets a medallion with some minor bonus and the nation pays out 50 gildar for the ceremony and medal. Champion would keep equipment of the unit.
so you would want to downgrade units?
We'd like to control our squires and knight them as their ruler. Tell me what King doesn't have the right to create a champion?
champions would have to be more than paper tigers before I would get behind anything like that
Nice idea. I like how it worked in Total War games, and it would work well here as well.
