Almost as annoying as the non-informative under-attack popup is the city level-up popup, which covers the entire screen (even at high resolutions), preventing you from seeing exactly WHICH city it is that just leveled up, or WHERE exactly it is..Yes the name is displayed, but rarely do i remember the exact Aduwda-gibberish name of specific cities.
This is critical, as sometimes the city in question does not yet produce any Tech for instance (as in the lower info-bar), perhaps it will gain access to a Lost Library when the influence expands or perhaps it is under construction. Either way, the ONLY thing you see when such a city levels up is the bottom infobar that says +1 Tech, and you assume its just another of your farming towns or whatever, hit +20% Gildar only to finally notice that it was your newly funded city on the verge of gaining access to 2 Lost Libraries...ROAR!!
This needs to be fixed asap.
+1 This is bothering me too.
Yes they do need a better interface but also need more options on level up. It makes the cities feel bland with so few options. Things tend to feel unique where there is a lot of customization options to them, and I don't simply mean where you place the same buildings every town gets.
Agree, i'd like some more varied options, maybe some things that have nothing to do with production.+20% Defence modifier upon city siege+5% random event luck (o wait we have no random events )+25% mana regen for casters stationed in the city+5 range to casters stationed in the city (AoW inspired)
Just, mooooooaaaaar options, maybe it will be hard to balance them, but then make them subtle, so even if its unbalanced its such a small change that it wont win you the game based on that alone.
Yea I suggested some more production options in this thread. But in a recent post in that thread I figured they need to let you put off choosing the level up option. I mean if they do add more level up options, which they really should, then players are gonna wanna take a look around the city and local area to decide which one to pick.
Level up was added to help make cities feel more unqiue so if they are really doing that then it would be something the player wants to think about before deciding not a quick pick like it is now. I mean it's "Got Lost Lab here? Nope. Got Arcane Lab here? Nope. Then Gildar Upgrade it is again." The only time it's a tough call is if 2 different resources of those 3 types are in the same city.
