Well this looks cool. The site is swedish, but the play button is easy to find. The video is english.
Film
They should do Black & White
It looks very real, remarkable quality.
I wonder what the specs are of that computer running it.
Agreed - looks really good. One to keep an eye on.
Interesting. But I'm personally wary after Spore.. it just seems similar, and might look more awesome than it really is.
The engine looks decent...Populous/Powermonger 2011 anyone?
help, help I cannot find the play button
seriously that makes my bones tingle as a visual developer. I would love to see the concept art behind the making of this game.
Looks interesting. I'm hoping they improve the FX by the end to make it look more realistic i.e. how lava flows and what happens when it comes into contact with water http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scGvM_VoPwk
nice link on the lava I enjoyed it.
Release date 27th july, price 15$ on PC.

Weird that it's so cheap, it's been in development for a long time and doesn't feel like a low-budget title. Makes me fear for lack of content.
I hope my computer will be able to run it. This looks great.
That said, it does look pretty light on actual gameplay footage for being so close to release. So far the game appears to be "move around parts of the environment to avert disaster" and nothing else.
Well it seems kind of like a niche game so I'm not so surprised by the low price tag. The video made it look more like a sand box nature simulator. It's kind of unclear to what extent game play exists beyond just playing around with the shaping the land. But hey that was enough for minecraft to sell.
It looks very intriguing.
I've been watching this game for awhile.
I think the initial game will allow the company to get their foot in the door so to speak.
After that, there are great possibilities for a game like this.
I'll wait and see how the game goes at launch and then look at buying this. There certainly looks to be
at least $15 in entertainment here.
Delayed for pc! 17th august now

Looks like an amazing basis for a game but maybe not a well fleshed out game in itself.
Game is going to be stuffed full of Ubisoft DRM sh*t.
Sa
Sadly that will be the case. I like Ubisoft games but man they have awful DRM.
Ars Technica kinda trashes it. I believe they review the console version, but this isn't too encouraging.I'll still keep an eye on it, it looks like a blast.

RPS didn't trash it, but they spend a bit of time talking about what the game isn't doing.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/07/27/from-dust-review/
What's impressive about it was what was impressive from the videos; the fluid dynamics and the terrain modeling/deformation.
At its core though its "a puzzle game with a fairly narrow set of solutions." Sure you can sculpt stuff for fun but there's no game holding together that motivation. Grass and trees may grow and animals may flourish, but it's all visual. There's little attention paid to things to do beyond the main objective of getting villagers from Point A to B. There's no bad guys to drown or light on fire, it's just the challenges posed by the environment or scripted looping catastrophes like volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.
For what they're charging it could be worth the buy. But now it will probably come with a healthy dose of moral turpitude because of the DRM. But just so there's no mistake: Populous Reborn this is not.
I would think a lot of the reviewers would be frustrated with the controls because, let's face it, console controls just aren't as good and as precise as a keyboard and mouse.
$15 is a fair price to me and I'm sure I'll get my money's worth anyway. Especially if there is a sandbox mode included.
Not excited about the crappy DRM to be honest though.
It is a shame about the DRM, but Ubi thinks their shit DRM works. The only way to get the message across is to refuse to buy anything that ships with it.
Wait so we all dont want the game to play a god and help create the world, and than destroy it, or is that just me?
Fuuckkk.........there goes another good game im not getting '
A great game, I think. Graphics are amazing. The storyline is very thematic. The gameplay is fun, more of a "sandbox puzzle" than anything else. The campaign is quite straightforward. The first few missions you always get "do that and only that", but quite soon you get a few choices. Of course the real choices are how you shape the world. The game is VERY short though - probably no more than 4-5 hours. But I would still recommend it, if only for the experience (it's like portal 2, a one-of-a-kind experience that is worth the high dollar/hour cost).
RPS DID trash it today: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/08/18/from-dust-does-need-online-badly-ported/
A real shame - this could have been fairly decent, and could have ended up as the foundation for a second game with deeper gameplay. As it is, looks like it's not going to do well at all.
