I think the Organized trait for Sovereigns is too important to ever not pick. I suppose if you planned on keeping your sov in a city past the first few turns you could live without it, but I don't see any other way to spend 10 points that has such a dramatic impact in the game, or makes your sov any more useful. It seems like the kind of thing a sovereign should be able to do anyway. Give it to all sovs free, and let us use points towards flavor traits that are interesting, but will not make or break the game by themselves. Also, it won't hurt the AI's ability to expand and defend their realms any, and it seems like they could use a little help there.
This is what happens when WoW players enter other games...."Give us this. Make this so..." etc etc, just so they can be MORE powerful. What ever happened to playing a game for the challenge? The uncertainty of wining or losing a game?
Gamers today are spoiled with easy games that make them feel like gods. Giving them guaranteed awards etc. Then they come across a game with different directions and solutions, than may or may not win the game, they whine and cry.
I like the ability as is with the cost as is. It's not overpowered... unless you buy like 20 'rings of endurance' and 'amulets of roaming'.
Has a suggestion been made to limit the number of rings a character has to... oh, say the number of fingers they have? Just a thought.
But of course unlimited amulets should be left alone. I mean 'Mr. T' anyone? right? am I right?... I'm right.
This would be good, actually. Oh wait, they have this already: Journeyman's Cloaks and Ranger's Packs.
Uh...huh. Or better yet you can't stack duplicate items. Sure you can have one of each kind of ring, but two rings of endurance won't happen. Or 30 for that matter.
You "can't stand" how people can use different strategies? What? It's not making them not be the main point. The Sovereign is still the core of things, actually more the Dynasty than the Sovereign themselves.
To put this in perspective, I'm on turn 275 in my current game, and I have 4 people running around with 17 Essence or more and at least 12-14 INT. Each. Why? Because my sovereign started with 15 Wisdom, is down to about 10 Essence at this point, has been boosting his essence every level and dishing it out to the minions.
Heh, yeah bro those damn WoW players are sure lame and I'm glad you dismissed what he said. The OP must play WoW because he's all like "Hey this ability seems pretty powerful so here is a suggestion on how to even it out" I bet he was leveling up his WoW character while asking for something like that. Luckily with your barbs about WoW players you didn't even have to provide any reasoning of your own. Guy just needs to bootstrap himself in to playing harder games because he sure is spoiled!
Guess he couldn't handle the intricate depth of balanced strategy that Elemental: War of Magic possess.
For me the effect of Organized simply doesn't make sense. You're organized, so your heavy tank infantry unit with 2 moves can now move as fast as your mounted, traveler's cloaked, movement booted, adventurer sovereign? Really? That's some impressive organizing, that is. It would be completely reasonable and intuitive if your organizational skills gave +1 movement to your stack, but as it behaves currently it's more fairy trod than organized.
That gives me an idea - my next game i'll make my sovereign sit tight in his home city and never leave it. MoM-flavor. That should take care of 'organized'!
I Like it the way it is as far as the single player game.. I do not see it as overpowered.. I think it needs to remain and we as players then can make our own choice..So if you don't think its fair or over powered in SP then choose not to use it.. me I like it and in my SP game I think it should be up to me what to use or not.. I play my way you play yours and we each have fun in our own right..
in multi player this really needs to be one of the toggles that is in the match set up so all who play in any give match are going in with eyes wide open as to what is happening..
The thing about the game, that I got from the get-go was that your magical power can be focused in whatever play style you want- but it should balance out... that seems to be the major issue right now.
No.
I agree. I don't see "Organized" people moving any faster then anyone else. You could say that Gen. McClellan was organized but he moved about as fast as a turtle. So, I renamed Organized into "Forced March" (base trait unchanged and soon to be renamed again to Disciplined) and made "Organized" into a small administrative bonus trait in my "Abilities and Histories Modpack". Check it out if your interested!
Either way, you can play this game however YOU want. Don't like it, remove it (or dont use it). Like it, make it <cost> 0 </cost> (see first page). In Elemental, the choice is yours.
Thanks for giving info on removing it earlier.
That being said please don't try to argue that Stardock should forgo any semblence of balance in their game just for the sake of hurting someone and their playstyle. Default abilities, costs and values are their responsibility to properly balance in the game they deliver. Most of us in this thread can see the Organized ability is well beyond any other ability you can take for minimal cost. Stardock should address this along with the many other issues that are present. If someone wants to deviate from the (hopefully) balanced state Stardock releases and go for a mod then that is where they should seek to add unbalanced abilites, not the other way around.
Yup, he has organised. Nope, still not finding any worthwhile use for it. I mean yeah, you can get infinite move rings or the like, but that just means you turn up to get your butt kicked quicker. Unless you combine it with infinite attack / defence rings, but if I'm spending that much on my sovereign I could've probably won a diplomatic victory twice over.
Is a great skill.
I say... buff all other abilities, or make it standard. Avoid all nerfs. What nerfs does to games is convert in generic pulp.
