It seems that every AI unit has a random name from the random name generator. When engaging in several fights against the AI, these random names are pointless, irrelevant, and distracting. I don’t know what a “llasgtob” unit is, and why does the AI’s next unit (with identical stats) have a different name “gusabey?”
It would be far more useful if there was a set of several class names for the AI units (e.g., defender, knight, raider). That way, when the AI sends out their army, the human player can quickly assess that X amount of knights or whatever are coming. This really shouldn’t be hard to implement because a similar system was set up in GC2 where you’d have “Cruiser -123” and so on. Additionally, some names appear to have already been set up for the player (Observer, Forward Observer, etc.) and the devs could just move these names into the AI list.
I also hate the random names. Most of the time its just some ugly charackter soup.
Also i dont have a clue why a group of 9 soldiers have a name, is this the name of the leader of the troup ?
It would be much nicer if you see if the enemy is a archer / heavy soldier or whatever.
seconded - i keep running a mouse over a unit in the middle of my empire - and just look at its name and go "ah its just a hero" moving on- - only to realise it was a pioneer unit from a enemy empire that just spawned a city in the middle of my area
