And wait for this game to be complete. It gets old not being told why something doesn't work or not being able to figure out what something is for.
Destiny's slivers? What are they for? Why can one champion equip it and others can't? Why doesn't the map building tool have a paint brush instead of a stamp?
I skimmed it to be perfectly honest
I have no axe to grind with Steam so I'm perfectly fine with it coming there, though honestly the more the merrier.
I don't see the point of this topic even being made. Just what do you expect to accomplish with it? You expect the developer team to go "Oh no, please! Don't go! We will to EVERYTHING you ask for! Just don't go!"??
These forums are supposed to be Elemental related, if you have off topic things to talk about, like another game, then post in the PC Gaming section!
I have AoW 1 and 2, but I can't remember playing it. I remember playing MoM though.
AOWSM is a classic and still my favorite. This game could be good but needs some tweaks.
As I understand it a lot of negotiations were undertaken with the intent of Stardock pretty much redoing MoM - however, these negotiations came to nothing and Stardock went on to do their own thing.
Now, obviously since other people own the copyright, there's a limitation as to how far they can emulate the MoM mechanics without running the very real risk of a copyright infringement suit (I'd expect - I'm no expert on these matters, but it seems you can pretty much sue anyone for anything if you are in the states).
Still, as I have tried to say in earlier posts, there's no good reason why Stardock should choose to completely forgo the inspiration that MoM provides. E.g. there's no reason why the tactical battles must necessarily be so incredibly bland. Honestly, the only reason not to choose auto-resolve is the fact that otherwise your sovereign will never, ever, no chance in hell, regain any amount of mana worth mentioning. And TBH that really sucks.
Take 1 unit of human Paladins
Enchant with physical protection.
Win.
Only thing that will hurt them is phantasmal units, but since they get first strike and a decent attack they should manage to kill them before they get a chance to attack.
It's a free to play web based game....it does either of 2 things. You are hooked and spend way to much money on their micro transactions or you realize how bad it is early on =p
"Old Man, You Seek the Spell of Mastery?"
I'm a fan of just saving the game the turn before my summon champion goes through, then reloading it tons of times till I get a ridiculously OP one. Every once in awhile you get stuck with a bugged champ too, as long as you don't save and load the game he has every single bonus possible, + extra abilities.
You mean the Invulnerability spell ? I wouldn't bother with hurting them, I'd just cast Cracks Call - low level spell with 25% chance of killing them outright, and it wouldn't care about immunity. AI loved the spell.
Paladins wouldn't scratch even Pegasi.
Additionally, getting Paladins takes forever. A competent player could win the game 5 times in the time. If you know what you're doing, you can win with Gnolls/Death magic on Impossible (no high level spells like wraiths)
That's true!
... someone beat me to this:
I had to read that twice to realize you weren't talking about MoM.
The number of times I've ended up with six units at 2 hit points each while they ended up with no working units is... well, number of times I've played the game, times about half the number of fights.
I'ma make a gnolls/deathmagic game right now. (10 death, so I don't start with the big hitter spells... the other one, I don't know. Something irrelevant.) And just as a challenge to myself, I'm not going to run out the clock on a combat unless I'm legitimately faster than they are.
