A gamer has filed a lawsuit against publisher NCSoft, claiming that he is unable to function because of his Lineage II addiction. ZoomCraig Smallwood says he has played a total of 20,000 hours of Lineage II over a period of five years, from 2004 to 2009. Smallwood believes his addiction has affected his quality of life and alleges in the suit that he is "unable to function independently in usual daily activities such as getting up, getting dressed, bathing or communicating with family and friends." Smallwood is citing negligence in his claim for an unspecified amount of damages and says in the suit, according to Wired, that NCSoft should have issued a warning with the game, cautioning users about its addictive nature. Wired reports that U.S. District Judge Alan Kay refused to dismiss parts of Smallwood’s complaint this month. "In light of plaintiff’s allegations, the court finds that plaintiff has stated a claim for both negligence and gross negligence," the suit cites Kay as saying.

A guy becomes addicted to an MMO and sues the publisher....
He have played 20.000 hours in 5 years, from 2004 to 2009. That's 11h per day!
....Hmm I wonder if people can sue Blizzard now....
That idiot better not win it's his own fault for getting addicted and I want GW2 >.<
Seriously though how is that even a case..?
Suing a publisher for game addiction is a bit like suing *whoever* for a drug addiction. It's a bit like it's 100% the bar proprietor's fault if someone gets wasted at a bar and then does something stupid. Personal responsibility has to come in somewhere. If you ignore bad things that are happening as a result of your addiction, you could argue that you are partially (or more) culpable...
Best regards,Steven.
This guy needs to sue himself for a) playing a silly asian grinder and secondly because hes an idiot.
liking asian grinding games should be made a crime.
I'll sue Mcdonald's 'cause after eating 10 times there every day I became a fatso. surely it's thier fault for making so tasty hamburgers.
I WANTS DA HAMBURGAZZZ....but it's thier fault, not mine.
They should put up a "population control" center in major citites, so when dumb asses like that arrives in town, they can get killed off and disposed of efficiently.
Do you like grinding asians Wintersong?
Isn't it how noodles are made?
I like asian grinding noodles.
