And some of us beta testers have it worse as we are unlearning and then learning again. For example, in Beta, you could build a farm from the city menu. Now we do it by clicking on the fertile land tile. This actually took me some time, and a post, to figure out and I was not alone.
There are a few posts on here about how bad things are and how could Stardock have blown this…That’s all BS. I think everyone is frustrated because everything has to be figured out instead of second nature. Sure I can’t name the techs required to field squads of 6 arches, yet, and it’s frustrating when I research a number of technologies and can’t get it right, but that’s because the game is new and I have no tech tree. I also don’t manage my main resources well (mats, gold, food) and my economy stalls, not allowing me to build facilities which produce the resources I need. This is all because it was my second game. Same thing happened during GalCiv2, WOW, even starcraft2 (Why don’t the terrans have medics in multiplayer, why can’t my terran tanks transform right out of the engineering bay).
I see incredible potential for this game. There are a few things that need to be fixed or polished, but I freakin’ love the game. And I can’t wait for the monstrous amount of depth and creativity that comes from all the fan created mods.
Be patient, everyone is just learning a new system. In a few weeks, it’s memorized and people will rave how good it is. And for the love of god show some appreciation.
Agreed. When I first played GalCiv2 I ran my economy into the ground and was in an extended recession for a while. It sucked! However, I eventually learned what I did wrong (overspending, overtaxing, and overproduction) and build upon my mistakes.
Elemental is the same. You need to learn how to play it and enjoy it. For example, I like the champions roaming the maps. I enjoy recruiting them and having them do things. I play them like a RPG while my sovereign runs the Kingdom like a strategy game. I love it!
This game has MASSIVE potential and Stardock is GREAT at unleashing that (see GalCiv2 nowdays). Can't wait to see what it becomes!
The people that complain suck.
I am running the Campaign now and its fun.
It's not been too bad an adjustment for me to be honest, but then I remembered seeing the resource building change mentioned in one of the dev journals
For the most part the only real issue for me at the moment is the polish, but I don't really mind a little roughness around the edges. There's room for improvement of course, but then there's always room for improvement.
