1. How do you increase the size of a city, is by having more food make you get different level cities?
2. What is world research?
3. Heros kind of suck unless there spell casters
4. How fast should one expand . and for that matter how do you use caravans
Prestige = how many people come to your city a turn (goblet icon in beta)
Food = required for housing
Housing = space for the people prestige brings in
If you look at the city details there should be a bar that represents the population, if you mouse over it you'll get to see if you've got enough housing/food for the city to grow, or how short you are. Cities stopped at level 5 in the beta iirc
1. Population increses city size, but you'll need food and housing in order to get the population up.
2. No idea, sorry >.<
3. You can give magic to heroes to make them better, but it costs some of your own power.
4. That is preference. I like to expand before the other people, but I try to make sure each city has protection before I get too far ahead of myself.
Hope that helps a little!
Since the question came up here... do any of the random heroes ever come with magic or do they all require essence from your sovereign?
Adding to the post above, you gain one population per turn as the default (meaning, you always have +1 prestige). It's possible to have negative prestige with some improvements (Fallen in Beta had a sacrifice pit for -prestige), at which point people will be leaving. But your prestige amount is exactly how much population per turn you'll be gaining.
"Goodie huts" (tiles you can explore for rewards) go up levels, and this research allows you to explore higher level goodie hut tiles.
Quests and quest tiles have a similar mechanic.
Not quite. Once you research armor or weapons with the Warfare tree, you can shop with them while in your territory (switch to the abilities tab with one selected, and click the shop button). The stats offer percentage increases to the equipment, so the better their equipment the higher the bonus. The main issue with them is that despite their attack/defense scaling, their HP really doesn't which makes them less good against "squads" of units (like 10 guys that attack as one).
How fast is subjective. To use a caravan, train it, then tell it to go to another city. Once it reaches it, a caravan route will be created and you'll see a road joining the two cities. The caravan will move much faster on this established road, and you'll get an increase to production.
As far as I know there are no innately magic-using heroes. You have to imbue them. It's certainly possible to mod in heroes that start with essence, though.
That's what I thought. After all the story behind the Sovereigns says they are extremely rare. The only reason I second guessed is because we have heroes that based upon their text/description sound as if they are going to teach us about magic... but yet they can't practice it so how are they going to teach it to us? (Too much thinking...)
Thank you for the answer.
IIRC any offspring of your sovereign begin with some essence.
Yeah, but then that means they have to stop adventuring and meet women.
