So as I did for my previous favorite game SoaSE, I'll be scouring the web for Elemental reviews and posting them here. That way there will be a single location where we can navigate to all the reviews of the game, for easy reference.
If you happen to find one I don't post, leave a comment below it in the following format:
I hope this will be made sticky by someone from SD like my previous thread was in SoaSE.

Just for the record, RPS, along with Tom Chick, are probably the two most honest and compelling gaming journalism sites in the business today. They take their jobs and their roles as journalists seriously and treat the subject with some degree of integrity. RPS will never give a numerical score, and they will never even do a review--what they will do is cover their experience with the game over different lengths of time for a number of weeks, beginning with a "first impressions" and ending with a kind of "here's what I think." They usually include some "let's play..." kind of material in the interim.
This is why I only ever bother with these two sites any more.
Wait are you suggesting that Rune_74 and Rossanderson48 are the same person?
Heresy!
Again though remember a review is only an opinion and we ALL have different opinions. This is why I never take much stock in reviews. Now if alot of reviews give something a SUPER low score I will approach with caution, but at the same time there have been a few games that places like IGN gave 6's or 7's that I found to be enjoyable and worth the money to play through.
That would be like suggesting that you and all the other frothing at the mouth posters are the same...Notice I never said I agreed with the 9 you however hate for the sake o f hating.
Gameenema.com
You're right... Elemental is an absolutely flawless game with nary a problem and only a "hater" could do anything but foam at the mouth with joy over it.
Oh wait...
That is a horrible oversimplification and exaggeration. He never said there weren't problems...but there is much hate and many haters who are grossly unjustified in their hate.
Easy to do that huh? I noticed anything by you is all about how bad it is, how bad the launch was, nothing else. So in other words, useless. Thos are all known things....repeating them over and over will notmake them more true. Add some areas to improve, talk about what to do next....don't dwell on the negative because it solves nothing. And yes, constant hate posts makes you look like your frothing at the mouth, sorry.
Perhaps you need to pay better attention then.
Yes, I'm more than slightly down on Elemental. The launch was badly botched and the game is missing far too many key elements to be considered ready for retail. This is a mid to late stage beta, pure and simple.
But the key problem is that you equate reasonable anger (say with being charged $50 for a more than moderately unfinished game) with hate. Classifying people who are vocal about their unhappiness as "haters" is a solid straw man argument... you can just lump us all into that unpleasant appellation and dismiss everything we say.
By the same token, I've posted in quite a few of the suggestion threads. If my only goal was to vent this great rage you believe I have, why would I even bother?
Honestly, I'm not sure why I debate with you my friend. You've made it clear that Elemental is the next best thing to Slurm™ (now in Extra Chunky style!) and that any reasonable level of unhappiness with the current state of the game is UNREASONABLE. "Don't worry, they'll keep working on it" is great... but starting at a state 6 months prior to a stable release version means a lotta work for the dev team before we start seeing the game we should have gotten on day 1.
I was fine with everything else you wrote until this vomit at the end which took away anything else you said. If you guys feel the need to whine and cry about the bad launch on and on why not just make one thread where you guys can hold each other and wail in dispare? I have said the launch sucked, I just don't go around every thread repeatingit like some of you.
Please FOCUS on reviews here guys , reviews 4 hugz!
my mistake.
So to summarize: Someone named Poo-flinger is upset that his site Game Enema isn't being taken seriously.
...
dragoaskani seems to think that gaming "journalists" from big sites have some special skills that make their reviews more relevant than anyone else's.
Gimme a break. It's probably the opposite since the publisher ad revenue they generate makes their credibility suspect compared to a 100% independent reviewer.
IGN is a major gaming review site so their reviews are automatically more credible, right?
Games aimed at completely differnet target markets (on different hardware with different abilities and control schemes) get judged based on different criteria? Oh the horror!
Next thing you know they'll tell me that cook books and fantasy novels don't use the same ranking criteria either!
Let's be fair here. All we can do at this point is to average the reviews thus far and give it a grade. So let's see:
Neoseeker: .90
1 Up: .77 (C+)
Out of 8: .625 (5/8)
GameEnema: .6 (6/10)
Average = .72 (C -)
The point I'm making is that all these big sites ultimately use arbitary numbers to assign a grade to games. Their writing skills aren't any better than independent reviewers, and they generally have less time to review games since they are on strict deadlines. Couple that with the fact that their main source of revenue is from ads (from game publishers) and it makes for an unreliable combination.
It's stupid to dismiss independent game reviewers just because they don't have as many reviews as professional game sites.
