Looks like Jagged Alliance 2 is going to get a faithful remake. I hope that bit about keeping to the ‘tried-and-trusted game principle’ of the game means that the combat will remain Turn-based.

Now there is some great news. Sir Tech did some of the greatest PC games.
And, if it is not turn-based then it is not a remake of JA2.
I've got the game on steam. While I haven't completed it yet I can safely say that it is refreshingly unique and fun.
Jagged Alliance 2 was such an amazing game. I must admit that I'm a bit worried because I've never heard of bitComposer Games before now... that usually means a poor product. There are a few screenshots which look pretty good, however, I do with they keep the old tactical UI system so its familiar to us vets.
While waiting for Jagged Alliance 2 Reloaded I recommend everyone try the JA2 1.113 Mod. It really revamps the game, adds tons of new content and features, and makes it fresh. The latest download is somewhere on their forums here: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php/ubb/cfrm/c/11
Might take a little work to find it... but it's worth the trouble.
2nded
I played the @#$@ out of JA->JA2, and then that mod just made it like playing it brand new.
I'll keep an eye on this as well, though there are a lot of X-Com 'clones' coming down the pipe too, and a new UFO-ET thingy hitting soon, as well what appear to be some Zombie tac games.
Dunno if any of them will really pan out, but at least squad based tactics seems to be having a bit of a push lately.
I will have to check this out. JA2 is one of my favorite games ever -- the last time I played it through, I soloed with just the IMP merc, and finished will every sector on the map cleared and Meduna full of veteran militia before I killed Deidranna.
anyone try Silent Storm. Heard JA2 fans should like that game
Yes. Yes we do.
Silent storm is a slightly more lighthearted version of JA2, set in a WW2 setting with branching mission trees, lots of cool guns, cool characters, etc. And you can play either allies or axis. The plot takes a weird twist halfway through the game and I don't really like that, but I won't spoil it for people.
It's even more possible to do things like blow up walls and go through them, etc. Many of the same principles, but you have character classes, levels with perks, etc. Basically, I've played it a LOT more than I've played JA1+2, and I really liked JA1+2.
you mean Xenonauts? http://www.xenonauts.com/
I did i got it and it's great: I loved it more than Hammer &Stickle, same engine, jsut diffrent game. It was more sneaky/making deals wiht NPC than your straight 3D RPG shooter tactics game wiht fully destructible enviromment like Silent Storm was.
I've heard of Jagged Alliance but never played or seen it.
So fans, tell me why I should be excited about this remake
Do you like turn based tactical squad combat games?
If yes then be exicted.
If no, then don't bother with it.
Play it and see for yourself
Also, Silent Storm was fun but, imo, they missed a lot of great design possibilities. Firstly, the traits and abilities you could level up with were lacking, limited "open" development, and somewhat boring. Second, the characters didn't have as much personality. Third, no custom IMPs (other then the default character). Forth, few characters to select/recruit from. Fifth, not much character customization.
Anyone play that Hammer and Sickle game they later released? That looked really interesting but had horrid reviews. I don't know where to even find or play it anymore (an english demo, for example).
