It looks like Dungeon Keeper, but it's called Dungeons. Realmforge and Kalypso are developing a real Dungeon Keeper clone exclusively for PC.
First screenshots!
I just hope they don't forget the most important aspect of what made DK work: the humour.
That was my initial thought too... only 15. If they are very unique and memorable, and behave different, just a shining example of how specialized things can be, might be okay. Otherwise, this seems to be a preetty small number to throw together some cliche monsters.
Definitely agreed. It's "possible" those 50 different traps and structures might spice things up a good bit and make it playable though. When I think back to the "Real" Dungeon Keeper there really weren't that many types of monsters were there? I remember 3 or 4 kinds of goblins or gremlins or something and a couple types of more powerful monsters. It was more about how the player designed their dungeons and set up their traps, so, we might have some hope with only 15 monster types. Still, for a modern game I'd have to agree I think they could do better than 15.
Holy Crap!!! I think we just agreed on something, darlin. *looks around* Is the world coming to an end?
It's been so long since i played those games, i barely remember. There weren't a lot, but that was decades ago. I guess for clones, remakes, sequels, i expect them to either build on the original, offern innovations or just give us more of what we liked with a better skin/graphics. Lately, it seems some games look better but don't offer more really for some of the series.
Hehe. not the end of the world yet.
I just did a sex wee in my pants . Totally awsome news, there honestly weren't that many creatures in the original, 15 sounds ok, gives room for expansion possibly.
Will we get the Disco Inferno dance routines though?
I think 15 is plenty if they are different enough. Dungeon Keeper had not much more, did it?
After a while i am picking the ones i like most anyway and let the other in the box.
I was trying to find some infos on the net, and it looks like that we had 17 different creatures in DK1 and 14 in DK2. Also, in the world in DLCs & expansion packs...I am not really worried with regard to the creature/hero diversity.
Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 are both over a decade old. Wikipedia lists 12 for DK2. I think we need more than just a modern looking game; we need some innovation and more content. I am reserving judgment, but what I don't want is the same game with new paint. We've seen some older series pop up as of late with short campaigns, less content then the original and crappy AI which is just going to put these series back into a deep sleep again for another 10 years if not longer.

That's 13, even if you don't count imps or the reaper (which bring it to 15).
Anyways, I tend to agree that fewer more individualized creatures is the better approach. RPG's are the ones that need a lot of content, but in a strategy game when two units share the same niche, the result is that one goes unused. That's a waste of developer time and resources that could be spent on other assets. Better to give every monster a very unique role and flavour than have a bunch of sub-optimal creatures you just kick out of you dungeon anyways because you want the stronger varieties...
Personally for me its all about the use, tactics and the like. Not a simple 1,2,3,4,5 tech tree of increasing power.
But still there have to be plenty of sexy kinds, because evil - is sexy.
Sorry I guess I was one off. When i took away the extra one that came later with the patch, i must have moused over number 13 (and I don't count them).
Strangely that is the exact reason i say: "Give it a new paint and be done with it". DK2 was great as it was, i dont want them changing stuff to much.
I dont want feature bloat, i just want a good game.
Hope they read my list

15 monster TYPES does not necessarilly mean only 15 different monsters.
A monster TYPE could be 'orc' or 'dragon', of which you may have a variety to chose from.
I guess we'll have to wait for more details.
And here is the dungeon keeper intro video, for those who don't remember

It lacks latex clad females...
New screenies!

Bah...
Those screens look terrible to me.
Maybe a little dated, but for good gameplay, I could deal with it.
Yeah. No mistresses, no DK!
...and torturing improved their morale.
Just popping in to say...
This game will be nothing like Dungeon Keeper. I've already talked quite a bit with the devs and it's doing its own thing. It's much closer to a Dungeon Tycoon game.
Me, I could care less either way. I'm just happy someone is making another go of a dungeon building/dungeon designing game, because there are NOT enough of those on the market, nor has there ever been.
Anyways, yeah, quit thinking of this as a DKII clone, because it's not going to be.
Dungeon Tycoon? Sounds interesting. I will surely buy this game.
For those of you who are like me and can't wait, here's beta registration (beta not open yet, eta 4th nov)
