It looks like Dungeon Keeper, but it's called Dungeons. Realmforge and Kalypso are developing a real Dungeon Keeper clone exclusively for PC.
First screenshots!
Bleh, I don't want a clone. I want a reboot that takes the feel (errr the hot female from DK2?) and puts it in an FPS action enviroment. But Scifi.
With aliens.
I have never played Dungeon Keeper so I'll have to keep an eye on this one, I suppose.
* again
wait is that sarcasm? im not good at detecting.
anyway, yeah this looks pretty damn cool. i hope it has all the features that made dungeon keeper great (especially hoping for first person mode) and being able to build your little lair for your creature. i always enjoyed building a bettle lair and then walking around as one. fun times.
Im not sure if your question was sarcasm or SRSLY? O RLLY?
But just to be sure I was being YA RLLY.
Anyway a GOOD new DK would be coo. SRSLY COO infact. O RLLY? YA RLLY.
With RUSE not using lame online DRM, this is anohter good news for PC gamers.
I don't care if it's a clone or a reboot or a copy, I'm buying that shit like I have money to spend
It's already out. It's called Dwarf Fortress
R.U.S.E. will utilize an equally lame form of DRM instead - the same one which is honestly starting to get on my nerves of late, but I digress.
Anyway, great news considering the fact the chances of DK3 ever seeing the light of day are slim at best. Capturing the magic that made DK special will be difficult, however.
I wouldn't be looking forward to this so much if I hadn't played a lot of DF. Personally I don't think DK and DF are anything alike.
The problem with DF is that it's a lot more awesome to talk about than it is to play.
Streamworks right?
Although sadly it doesn't look like Ubisoft is dropping their hated online system at all really.
I have zero problem playing Steamwork games in offline mode. None of us shouldn't.
It's really not your place to try and force your opinions on others. You should have stopped with sentence one.
I think the second part is fine. Please dont force your opinion on other people opinions on us Nesrie.
OT
*Happy dance*
Yeah, I know about Steam fans, nothing new here.
It is not a opinion.
If you have problem going offline mode with exception of 3rd party drm'd games in Steam, you should put support ticket and get proper response from them.
Stop fucking derailing another thread to bitch/praise about Steamworks, offline mode and the mother that give them birth.
Booooooooooooooooring.
Nothing new.
Really.
(and this is not an opinion but a fact... for a % of the Universe)
Well yeah, I agree....DF and DK are very different indeed. However, DF is a masterpiece already, even in it's bugged/alpha state. I spent hundreds of hours playing with DF in the last years. That means something I guess. [Even tho, DF is not for everyone, that is for sure...]
..on-topic: The screenies are looking good..let's hope that the gameplay will be decent as well!..can't wait for some in-game videos.
THAT IS AWESOME!!! Great find Tormy , man I loved Dungeon Keeper back in the day. Nothing was better then killing those dumb heroes who would try to invade my underground kingdom of evil terrors Mwhahahaha
Btw, somehow I missed the press release, so here it is:
Prepare to Unleash Your Devious Side as Kalypso Media Announces “Dungeons”
Think you can hack it as an evil Dungeon Lord?
Ridgewood, NJ, August 12, 2010 — Kalypso Media, a global publisher of award-winning PC and console games is pleased to unveil Dungeons, an all new strategy/simulation title for Windows PC which will take players on a devious adventure through the depths of the underworld. Prepare to have the roles reversed as you play a despicable Dungeon Lord whose job is to create fiendish dungeons to lure and trap heroes who dare to try and steal your treasure. Dungeons is currently in development by Realmforge, a Kalypso Media studio and is scheduled for release in Q1 2011.
Dungeons follows the mis-adventures of the foremost of all Dungeon Lords, who spends his time luring heroes into his labyrinthine creations with the promise of treasure and a good fight — only to be trapped by his ingenious devices. Once they are in his grasp, our Dungeon Lord must look after and cherish his new found prisoners until they are more comfortable with their surroundings, because come the “harvest”, happy heroes have more precious soul energy for you to gleefully extract via foul prisons or twisted torture chambers!
In Dungeons, our protagonist falls victim to a devious plot hatched by his vile, nasty and thoroughly vicious ex-girlfriend and finds himself at the bottom of the underworld hierarchy and the top of the dungeon pile which in this world is about as bad as it can get. Our Lord must have his revenge, and make his way back down the dungeon levels to his rightful place — but first he must deal with his new bosses, the three despicable Dungeon Lords who stand in his way.
At his disposal are his dim-witted goblin minions who dig tunnels and build rooms to lay out his lair and trap ever stronger and braver heroes who dare to enter, not forgetting to plot his revenge against his ex-girlfriend and his new bosses who think it’s great fun to bombard him with useless tasks. It goes without saying that a malicious and sneaky creature such as our Dungeon Lord has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Revenge will be sweet indeed.

Hah, sounds like a lawsuit to be honest.
Hmm, I can see the hero classes being kinda limited. There's only so many different types of heroes anyway, but only 15 Monster Types? That seems pretty limited. Not a good sign. 50 Different objects to be used might spice it up, but damn, I can think of way over 15 monster types when I'm half asleep. Still, it's a Dungeon Keeper remake/clone so it's worth keeping an eye on just for that reason. I sure as shit hope they up that monster count though...
If you look at at typical game, you don't see a lot more then that. It's easy to come up with 500 monsters, but trying to cram them all into one game and make them all usable and unique is really difficult. Even if you did, it'd be so complicated that most players would never know when to use them all.
It's not all about monster types, either. Who knows if there's item shops (*hopes*) or such things. Individual statistics. Levels, upgrade paths, who knows.
I wouldn't mind to buy DLCs if the game will be decent enough.
It won't really be the same unless a certain voice actor is on board.
