What version of Sins of a Solar Empire is supported? Sins of the Fallen is a modification for Diplomacy and Rebellion.
How do you install Sins of the Fallen? Please read How to install Sins of the Fallen.
Why does your mod have so many folders? As Sins of a Solar Empire is a 32bit game it is restricted to 2GB of ram utilization as well as other various hard coded limitations. The stacking structure used with this mod allows more than 2GB of content by allowing portions of the mod to be loaded.
Will you support Entrenchment or Vanilla? No, I did have previous versions that supported Entrenchment (See Release History), but have decided the it was too much effort for one person to try and maintain both.
Good sir, not to hound your ass anymore than these other folk are, but what's your timeframe/goal on released a beta of the Hypercorp (with working tech tree)? I'm just about good whenever you are.
Tech tree for them isnt so bad right, just missing descriptions mostly.
It's a cloned version of the TEC one right now, isn't it?
I...actually never bothered to check that, but it might be x3 there are a few interestingly placed ones though.
The original definitely was a clone of TEC as it's much easier to use one of the original races as a starting template. The last version is a significant shift away from TEC (excluding diplomacy). I do need some Tier 8 civilian techs though and update the large research pictures.
Which do I download to be able to play as the Colonial's from BSG?
Download the Sotf R5 link in the OP. I'm working on a smaller download option, but that will take a bit if time to setup and upload.
hELLO I just downloaded the SOFT R5 and im trying to figure out how to enable the mod with all the factions basically everything but i dnt knw the order can i get some help plZ?
It's all at the top of the OP Holybeast. Simply put though, it's in this order Planet (1 only), Addons (Any), Races (Any), Core.
Note: If you want Tec, Advent or Vasari, you'll have to activate them.
Thats odd i did that but it still minidumped on me? What do i set the Debug colonial at?
Oh... Don't use the SotF Debug Colonial. I also didn't mean to package it I use it to debug an individual race so I don't get tons and tones of popup windows. Plus, I think the one that got packaged isn't right to begin with!
so what is useable and not usable to test with in the current SOFT R5
It's all testable except the debug ones.
I played as the Hypercorp against the Colonial In the close encounters map and while i was in it like no longer 10 min and the game like stopped and closed on its on no minidump just automatic closed down
Well... What SotF mods did you have stacked? What were your Effect settings?
I just played a 39 minute (game clock) Colonial versus Hypercorp without any issues.
SotF Mods Stacked:
SotF Planets Sol R5
SotF Addon Effects R5
SotF Colonial R5
SotF Hypercorp R5
SotF Core R5
Effects:
Highest/High/Low (Detail/Extras/Bump)
@Holybeast - well... the intent of this configuration is to AVOID the 2GB limit. Why would you load everything for a close encounters map between Colonial and Hypercorp. You should remove ALL the other races except for the ones you want to play.
I can't make any guarantees about your system and hardware and it's ability to run with so much loaded at once. Trim it down and see if you have the same issue.
Well that happens to me with only three races loaded.
As per the standing question, what SotF mods did you have loaded, and what were your effects settings?
And... This doesn't give me anything to go on really...
This please, plus your total Ram and probably Video Card and Video Memory.
I have an Acer Aspire laptop, 2.2GHz, 2 GB DDR3 Memory, 250 GB HDD. And for the three races thing, found out I just didn't put Core last. However; when I have all races activated, and try to hop on a large map (to just see them get kicked by my colonial fleet) 4-5 minutes in it mini dumps.
Here's how it's setup:
SotF Planets SinsPlus R5
SotF Addon Moons R5
SotF Addon Artifacts R5
Sotf Race (All)
I just leave the settings alone, except for a few:
Colored Skyboxes: Unchecked
Shake Camera: Unchecked
Bloom Enabled: Unchecked
Is there anything wrong with this, causing my minidumps?
You'll never be able to run all of the races with only 2GB of ram on that system I can do this with Effect settings on High/Medium/Low but the lag gets pretty bad if fleet sizes get too big on large maps, but I'll run between 1.4 to 1.6 GIG on ram usage (Highest and I'll mini-dump).
My system specs are i7 860, 8GB DDR3 Memory, GTX 260 (896MB).
Your available ram is only 1 GB or less depending on your OS and other running programs. I sincerely suggest you upgrade to a minimum of 4GB ram if possible. You might be able to load one or two of the races but I would suggest keeping Effects to High/Medium/Low or Medium/Low/Low depending on your memory consumption.
FYI, Colonials is the heaviest hitting race as it's texture and meshes are significantly larger than any of the other races in my mod.
I also have a version of the Optimization project that you may also want to try that can be stacked with my mod but I wasn't seeing any issues on my side in Diplomacy so didn't pursue it further. Let me know if your interested.
Sorry if this is a silly question, but I can't find the Colonials as downloadable Race in this thread...
It's definitely me, but I just don't see it!
@Jimi Right now it's all one big package in the SotF R5 download in the OP.
Colonials fit with my theme of factions with self destructing backgrounds and have been included as part of my mod (atleast here).
It's a big mod but uses a plug-n-play approach to keep resources low when playing.
DON'T load every single SotF mod that is downloaded with SotF R5.
DO load the races you want to play with and within your system constraints.
By example the minimum required to play Colonials vs Colonials is:
SotF Race Colonial R5
If you want to play the Colonial against another race such as Advent and Plague add their race to the stack:
SotF Race Advent R5
SotF Race Plague R5
