I cant give the name of the site obviosly, but im sick to death of trying to get rid of this site and trying to deal with
the people who own the sites where the download links are found to disable downloading master skins.
yes, just about every master skin is on this site, why cant we shut this place down?
and why are people on that site asking ME to leave and not vice versa. I registered on that site just so I could
make a stand and say something about my fire starter skin being on that site, and other master skins as well.
But all ive recieved back is comments like
: well its free so why should we buy it?
:maybe you should leave the site, your getting too upset over this
: oh im poor so i cant afford to buy it.
: my skin isnt good enough to be sold as a master skin, thats why its being porned off free on that sight
: and last, shutting down that site wont give me any sales at wincustomize.
Nothing but arrogance, nice hey? Acording to them, its just tuff toblerones and we just have to put up with it,
the site they say is open to everyone, and maybe I should download stuff too? no thanks. im not that kind

I just spent the last two hours posting derogatory comments on this site on ever skin I could recognize, free or for sale elsewhere, and sent yet another email to their abuse section!
Basically I said: "Remove this copyrighted intellectual property from this site immediately you scum sucking son of a bitch's! This is copyrighted work, and it must be paid for on MY PERSONAL OR ASSOCIATE SITE, not this f'ing poor excuse for a web site! Absolutely everything submitted by this user on this site is COPYRIGHTED and not theirs to distribute! Why don't you answer my emails! I report abuse and you ignore it! Bastards all of you!".
I even changed the wording a bit for a couple of Kitty's works that I recognized and gave 'em hell on those too!
To hell with the DCMA letter and being civil, I am pissed and they don't care anyway!

This is all a big joke now anyways...we have an obvious theft right here on our own site and its being swept under the rug in typical Winc style.
This case is even more insidious than just giving away something to people who havnt bought it.They copied parts of the skin and called it their own.
And Wincustomize is letting them get away with it.(featured it even).I dont feel like our IP is being protected very well.
Like my skins or not...I AM a photoshop expert...this is no 'coincidence',to call it such is an insult.

Masters....all being 'Masters'...are all of equal 'status'...naturally...But within the Master status complexity...there are Masters of the Cursor....Masters of the Dream....Masters of the Wallpaper.....Masters of DX.....Masters of the Community (which they all should be).....guiolympic placegetter Masters.....Masters of Windowblinds....etc..whatever their speciality...quite a different mix of skills developed over varying numbers of years....within Masters of Windowblinds....there are different skillsets...not just 'sizes of portfolios'....blind freddie can see that....it's a result of them all being individuals.... as well as Masters...some have been at it many years longer....some have the opportunity to work on it full-time..others as a hobby...an..obsessive hobby!....skinners have different flairs for design...but they have all worked hard at perfecting their craft and their style and bought something unique to the community and the mods attention....I would hope all Masters continue to improve and strive for greater skills and forward thinking designs....not just rest on their laurels that they have all achieved this Master status, that they are seeming to be told, automatically makes their skills the same....'cause it ain't so...there's always going be someone better than you are...to hopefully inspire you to improve...I understand where you're coming from Manni....just probably could have been better worded to get your meaning across....it's only practical to want to seek opinions from people who have been skinning longer term...on a full-time basis, to get their take on things....and perhaps how it has affected them and their sales over time...and what they think the repercussions might be of any blind protecting ecryptions as they surely have had a longer period of time to get to know their customers and their needs...nothing wrong with having 'elders' at any level...that's natural.....and shouldn't be looked upon as 'different classes'....
Thanks Doc! I also just spent time sending emails to all their advertisers that I could find that did not appear to be illegal themselves telling them about their ads or links appearing on an illegal file sharing site and gave them the pertinent info. Hah!
Well said syd. I can't articulate my thoughts that well, but that pretty much sums it up for me.
Well, my actions are finally having some results, I actually got an email from the administration at that site asking for links to the copyrighted material, which I provided after hours of typing. I sent them almost 50 links of the stuff I knew alone! Kitty, I included skins by you, Adni18, vStyler, myself and I.R. Brainiac in the list, as well as a general comment about all Stardock and The Skins Factory copyrighted material, and gave them the user names of the biggest offenders on their site also. I also told them that basically everything on their site was copyrighted and illegal, but I doubt if that will have much impact. We shall see!
Did you mention the skins by me, or should I write my own mail, Tom?

I was just back on the site in question and mine and many others have been removed
We still have a ways to go, though. Still plenty of premium skins by essorant (His name is Tim too ), Adni, Z71 and Mikeb still up.

Yeah, I did mention Stratos Tim, and just so you know all the skins I submitted for removal, including yours, are now gone from the site.
Kitty, your works have been removed also.
I will continue to pursue this matter until every single illegal item I can convince them to remove is gone!
However, they said items owned by Stardock, MyColors, etc., and The Skins Factory or anyone else from now on were "none of my business" and they would need to hear from those people themselves to remove their items.
So If you find your work on that site and want it removed, send me a PM or email and I will advise.

They don't take it seriously Neil, none of the sites like it do. They just didn't like all the negative comments I was posting on their site and emailing the people who advertise on their site, and will continue to do so. I basically forced them into it.
I am impressed then...most sites would just laugh at you.Then ban your ip address.
While I'm here I must say a portion of my faith in the mods here has been recently restored.I now feel slightly less grouchy.
