Detroit is leagalizing based on a vote in November, advocates say state wide in four years. -Jeremy Sr.
If you are into drugs, why not take the whole lot at once?
It will solve all your problems and at the same time do all us a favour...
Actually, LightStar, I believe there is a drug reference somewhere in the Bible. Let me explain..
I'd have to do some research to find the exact quote, but what I remember is it had something to do with God telling man he had Dominion over all the Plants and Animals of the Earth. I think there might have been separate references about each but I'm not honestly sure. It's been a long time since I studied the Bible (I did go to Church and Sunday school when I was a kid). I'm not trying to defend the Zazimire's quote as I can't recall anything by memory, and I'm also not saying the Bible says it's ok to do "Drugs", but from a Biblical sense marijuana is a plant, a All Natural Plant Made By God. It is Not a "processed" drug.
On a purely scientific and archaeological point, our scholars today Do Know for a Fact that Marijuana and it's Extracts were used in Biblical Times as Medicines for various illnesses and conditions. Even using more modern history, Queen Victoria of England used Marijuana Oil Extract (made simply by squeezing the plants in a press) to lessen the cramps and pains of her menstrual cycle.
Note: when I feel better I *might* do the research to find the exact quotes if you want, but, not right this second. I've been up all day and all night and I'm about to crash for the day.
The common problem here and as with everything else...as soon as man gets his hands on something that is and can be used for good...it gets abused, perverted, banned, controlled, criminalized, and then lost forever due to ignorance. Same thing goes for the bible when it gets misinterpreted...often times on purpose...to fit someones views.
@Raven X That would be Genesis 1:29
Very true, and well said. History is full of Religious bending and twisting with double-talk to fit Man-kind's needs. Case in point, the Crusades.
The Bible: Thou Shalt Not Kill!!!!
The Pope: Go Forth and Slay the Infidels in the Name of Our Lord and Saviour!!!
Assbackwards bullshit much? That's why I stopped subscribing to popular religions. None of them are right and All of them are corrupted somewhere along the lines.
Ahh, thank you Wiz
Does that one say Dominion over just the Animals? Or animals And plants? (yes, I'm lazy and not looking it up lol) The one I thought I was thinking about was specifically about plants I believe. Then again I might be thinking of something else entirely and not even thinking about a Bible quote but something from another text. I want to say there's something specifically about plants in the Bible though.
Yes, the animals are covered in Genesis 1:26 although it doesn't specifically say we should kill them all and eat them. Silly humans!
I don't know why your quote did not pick up correctly Raven X, but what I said was:
Weird that the quote did not include "posting unintelligible comments on WinCustomize!".
In the beggining was the word.
And the word was aardvark.
I agree with you here LightStar. The quote you quoted wasn't mine, my friend.
No no no, Jafo...It's like this.
In the beginning was the word. And the word was aardvark Raven.
'beginning' ....darn it.
And here I thought it was asshat!
Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids! -Jeremy Sr.
Actually? Mistranslated. The Hebrew states, "Thou shall not murder."
Killing is permissible in certain circumstances such as war and self defense.
Ridiculous species.
Yep ... so Murder (or Domestic Killing and Assassinations) is against the Hebrew law, while open Warfare is not against the Hebrew law.
Of course, in a modern world where enemies are not on equivalent terms, it would be fair to say that all (or most) modern killing is in fact murder.
"That's why they call me bad company until the day I die" -five finger death punch
I've never understood that, taking away felons' right to vote. What are they afraid of, that they'll vote a Crime Kingpin into power? That they'll vote to overturn all laws and the streets will fall to Chaos? If we trust leftwing college professors and rightwing hillbillies to vote, we should trust felons to vote.
As for whether pot should be legalized, all you have to do is drink until you pass out three nights in a row, sober up, detox (could take several days to recover), and then smoke a joint for comparison purposes, and it will become very clear that marijuana does less harm than alcohol. Just get drunk once and observe the behavioral changes when you're hungover. Alcohol's a debilitating drug, and it effects productivity even when you're not using it. For the nation's economy, we're all better off smoking pot after work instead of drinking.
I've never known or heard of a case where someone got stoned on pot went home to get a gun, then went back to kill some one, yet stories just like that one, seem to happen with alcohol. Some people just turn into mean drunks after a few drinks. Something like 96% of all spouse abuse involves alcohol.
Then again, if Domino's or Pizzahut where ever allowed to deliver weed with pizza, the world as we know it, might come to a complete end! If you think people are lazy now, just wait until after they legalize pot.
Not necessarily. You'd have to delve into a bit deeper. Not always does the technologically/numerical adversary "win". Depends on the type of war being waged.
Apart from that, I was referring to a misquote of the original text.
I do not favor violence as an 'answer' to anything, except existential threat. When one/nation is dealing with a foe bent on extermination/conquest, violence is the one appropriate answer.
Committing a crime against [your] society's Laws means you have relinquished rights to participate [in that society] for the term of your imprisonment...and voting is part of that participation.
While in prison, agreed. Afterwards, rights should be restored. If not, then how is that person being reintegrated? By telling him, "You have no say in who governs/represents you."? I don't think so. That is a permanent denial of that person's Constitutional rights, and one afforded him in the Declaration of Independence. That denial of basic rights has to be fixed. If not, that person should not have to pay taxes.
ONLY POT HEADS CAN READ THIS ... lol
I'm not sure if I'm going to take that as another example of how democracy fails, or as an example of something democracy actually can do right. I suppose democracy is a whole spectrum from "Can't do it right" to "Doing it wrong".
It's not unique, though. I know a man in France who was sentenced to "2 years without civil rights".
Dunno how the US deals with it...not restoring it?
If he's in the can for non-payment of parking fines....that's one thing...but frankly if the guy is a gang-banger...child rapist etc...who really cares that his feelings are hurt?
Oh, shucks...his constitutional rights are being denied.
I'll pretend to give a damn.
See the kind of stuff this guy has had to deal with... www.phoenixtears.ca
