I´m a story teller. I love to write and draw what I imagine. To share it.
I have been formulating an idea for interesting content to be born, long term, for the sake of the game Elemental. A gathering point for creativity, is what I bring to the table.
We will create both long and short stories that can be merged into the game. I know there are many story tellers and writers out there who can bound together to do this. The goal is that our stories can be made into interesting quests or extra content. Long term, the most memorable of our stories would be published as fan ebooks for the pleasure of reading, and bringing new blood to the world of Elemental.
If we ever did reach an amount large enough for actual printing: I would attempt to edit and do so.
If there´s anyone who would be willing to host a site for our goal, then please make it known.
If you have any ideas you would like to share to spark the imagination of others, please feel free : )
Spread the word and gather enthusiasts. Together there is no doubt that a steady flow of interesting material will continue to flow.
Let the creativity, begin!

I do a lot of creative writing myself so I'd like to put myself down for a tentative 'perhaps', depending on future responses/decisions/etc
I´m glad to hear that you´re almost on board. Well, one thing I should mention is that all have equal say. As any movment we are best at work when sharing and working as a mastermind group. It so just happens to be, presently, that I am an army of one.
Oh wow. I'm not sure exactly what Elemental Fan Fiction would entail at this point. I'd gladly sign up, but right now I'm writing to escape my perpetual unemployment, and I've saved enough money to get myself self-published when I'm done. I'd like to participate, at the same time, I've got a ton on my plate, since I'm writing between 4-8 pages a day not counting editing. If I have any kind of inspiration, I'll be sure to send something to you.
Well, I wouldn't call it Fan Fiction .... more like MOD fiction
Interesting idea.. to me it's often just a measure of finding the right timing/inspiration (Muse?) to make me complete such a project.
I think I'll need to spend a little more time understanding the game and the editors.. but it would be a lot of fun if you could potentially craft a RPG adventure out of doing this...

Sounds good, although who owns the Elemental universe copyright should authorize it. There are authors who don't allow fanfiction with their worlds and/or characters.
We could have some potential problems due to licenses and such, if that would be the case we would just write with Elemental WoM as an inspiration. That born of our ideas can still be implemented in to the game.
Anyway, I started working on an idea here. Let me know what you think and I will keep you posted.
I´m working on a pretty interesting story that will be told via linked quests. It involves a free city, ruled by 12 merchant lords. This city will be represented by a minor faction. As merchants, these rulers see the profit that could be gained out of the strife of other factions. To trade arms and artifacts to gain even more wealth.
The ambition of one certain merchant lord makes things a bit more interesting. For the moment I will name him Yaleth. Yaleth sees the the enormous power of the wealth of the free merchant city, if combined. If all the lords unite under one banner. With betrayal and cunning he soon has the entire guild under his foot. He seeks to use this enormous wealth to expand and make himself in to a sovereign. By buying mercenaries, adventures, artifacts, etc. And so he does. Think a minor faction, lead by a man of great ambition and enormous wealth.
The quests would be given by the exiled merchant lords, who seek to reinstate themselves as rulers again, to regain former glory. By doing so you will receive money/items etc in tribute. As they "join" your kingdom/empire.
Quests revolving around:
- Thwarting the plans by stealing artifact/item X quicker
- Killing adventurers employed by the sovereign Yaleth
- Defeating his armies and generals.
- In the end, hunting him down and killing him.
Of course this could also be reversed if one works for Yaleth, seeking out each of the weaker merchant lords and killing them. The rewards of Yaleth are greater, but in the end you wont have a passive friend, but a potential foe who grows more powerful and dangerous with each turn.
Quests such as:
- "Poska is fat, and I never liked him: Flay him alive.
Ah, I get it, so you are designing story-based quests, is that right?
That's a good idea, but I don't quite understand how it's different from just a mod that's a pack of quests.
I would be extremely surprised if Stardock starting suing us and declaring copyright infringement for writing fiction and making mods. I guess it technically could be, except it would be extremely silly.
Suing us for making mods but giving us excellent mod tools? That's just hypocritical and insane. But then again they might have picked that trait.
For a summer job I say I am an author (partly to get people to stop asking what my summer-job is) so I do write an awful lot. I like making worlds, cultures, places, people, history, but not the plot or other annoying parts.
I love this idea, please count me in. I'm an avid reader and writer, who loves sci-fi and fantasy. I've played in dozens of pbem RPGs, and I'm well versed in a wide variety of writing styles, having long since overstayed my welcome in college
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of writing samples, but I'm sure I could come up with something if necessary.
I'm between jobs at the moment, so I've got plenty of time hehe. I plan on playing Elemental quite extensively and I look forward to the book, so it shouldn't take me too long to brush up on the game's lore.
simple: just don't copy titles. don't have a title like "Elemental: War of Magic 2" or "Civilization 5: redux"
at least as far as naming ur mod goes. Other companies have stricter rules though ... like Games Workshop might sue regardless of the title, depending on certain factors ... but if ur not making any money off of it, who cares? Hence just don't copy the title, cause that would be misleading and possibly confusing to people.
Well thank you. Our pleasure lie in creating by writing. "We will create both long and short stories that can be merged into the game." The end result might show itself in a multitude of forms, from fan books to quest-packs and modifications. Our goal is more in the coming up with interesting material than implementing it.
The above story based chain-quest was an example. I love to write and make up stories, that´s my deal. I and others with me (welcome to the team Sencha) will create material that can and will be used by us and fellow players: we are going to create ideas and stories, and those stories and ideas might in turn be used by us and/or others.
Now that should be plane enough : )
About being flailed down by the holder of rights:
I think that about settles it, thank you GoaGalneGbilski.
So, we now are an army of two. The first thing to do is to gather creative minds. When we have a pretty solid guild we can begin bouncing ideas.
