Unfortunately I don't play MP games. However I went through the R4 version with a fine tooth comb to find the minidump issue and yes the galaxy scenario def problem, which another chap mentioned on modDB. There was no bug in R4 just a hardcoded issue with the new TEC capital ship ability to board and capture ... if it was used by another race, apart from the TEC, then dump. So things look clean.
I have recently been looking in the forums to see other posts and people who are having this problem and there have been. I noticed your comments and question in one of them. Two posts you might have a look at, if you haven't seen them already are

Apart from the above ... here is a check list
1. Check you patch version to see they are the same (i.e as of today v1.1.4480). Also I can verify that the checksum is 367007150 for R5
2. Make sure you have "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"
3. Try using similar graphics effects settings and lowering them slightly from the recommended
4. Try playing with antivirus off ... or at least saving with anti-virus off.
Finally, do either of you have problems playing in single player mode i.e only against the AI's?

I have tried every step you suggested here, we are both using the exact graphics settings that you require us to play with so that we avoid any dumps.
To answer your question, no neither have us have any issues playing in single player mode at all. We haven't ever had a dump with Maelstrom either. In single player we can load any saved game and have no issues at all. And as I previously mentioned, we don't have this problem in vanilla or while using other mods, it only ever happens while using Maelstrom Mod so it's gotta be something connected to the mod.
Right now we found a temporary solution, I have to send him my save files so that we can load the save but since this only happens with your mod(For us at least) I imagine that the issue must be connected to he Mod somehow. It was only after I deduced that much that I made the decision to contact you, because we have done everything we could have done on our end.

Hi we have lots of problem with this mod, it crashes every 10 minutes of plaing. We tried everythink, restarting game, activating mod in game and manually in enableMods file, etc.
Are you using the recommended graphics effects setting? Lower the graphics effects setting
It could be a problem with the size of the map and the total number of players ... causing desync
- try playing the game in windowed mode.- do not save the games to Cloud. Uncheck that option (steam) and just let your games save to the local drive.
Bug Report:
Multiplayer Save games of the current version for Rebellion do not work for anyone but the host of the game.
The host for example can rehost a autosave or a normal save, however none of the other player can join the game.
This makes saving basically worthless, so it would be awesome if you could fix it in a future release.

That can't be a mod issue... Sounds like one of you got a desync or crash and have different saves. Has the host tried emailing his save to the others before re-hosting?

Confirmed, Maelstrom Mod only.
Exchange of save games does not fix problem. No matter how long ago the savegame is.
Both players have powerful PC specs that are more than capable of handling the game.
Loading of games of other mods or vanilla is without any problems.
Who is hosting does not affect the problem, too.
It always says something about a differerent Galaxy..... file.
Happens both on random and not random maps.
Basically the other guy is in the game for half a second and is then immediatly kicked..
It is strange because I do not alter any entity files associated with MP and SP is fine.
Will start some tests tomorrow ...
Out of curiosity do you or the other players have problems when playing Single Player games ...
I have been testing the MP "GalaxyScenarioDef file differs" problem - with 2 human players on Random huge maps with various (8) AI players. This is what I found1. I can consistently reproduce the problem (within 15-30 minutes of play time)2. The GalaxyScenarioDef files do not differ3. The saved files differ (whether autosave or manual save)4. I can consistently rejoin games if I send the hosts saved file to the other playerConclusion 1. For MP ICO there is a network timing/synchronization issue with Rebellion2. What exacerbates this problem for Maelstrom is unclear - possibly the size of the mod, such as having 3 additional players
I had a friend who's mod crashed every 10 minutes. He fixed it by turning down the graphic settings. Goodluck
There are recommended graphics settings which are in the installation guide included with the mod ... so I am assuming people who are reporting mini-dumps have correctly setup the mod.
Don't. Assuming people always follow your instructions is a bad, bad idea since a lot of the time they don't follow your instructions.

Unfortunately, there are also many who go the extra mile and come looking for help and claim they have read and done all the suggestions in the provided documentation, when this is in fact not true.
For those that are interested I found the problem behind MP save files ... "your galaxy scenario file differs from the hosts"
The solution is to delete all the DebrisXXX.mesh files in the Maelstrom mod "Mesh" folder (41 in total).
There is a small and esoteric bug in the Rebellion save game function. The problem is Rebellion saves the complete local file name for the Debris meshes (in the save file) and seeing that the complete local file name is unique for each user then the save game checksum will be unique for each user. This checksum is used in MP saved games to validate saved files across the players saved files and must be the same as the hosts.
Hello, first 'd like to say that I enjoy the mod you made very much and it adds a lot more play-ability to the game.
But I'd like to ask if you have any plans on making the mod compatible with Diplomacy 1.37
Glad you are enjoying the mod.
The patch from 1.34 to 1.37 was minimal, that is why I have not upgraded it as of yet. Maelstrom 1.34 works fine with 1.37

Yes, for the next release I'll be removing the Debris meshes from the mod ...

So i tried to unzip it, and 7zip said it can't be opened as an archive. Help?
