Introduction
The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the SoaSE Universe.
It keeps the original races, the TEC, Advent and Vasari who are still to be found building and battling as usual.
All of the new races are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses.

Since it got over looked, do I need to install the 4gb patch? I'm running a 64 bit windows 7 however I've seen people say that the patch does nothing and that if I install it I could actually mess my game up
As I've said before "I improved the memory foot prints on all Maelstrom versions. E & D run on graphics on effects set all to highest and O run on everything on highest but 'bump'." ... this is without the patch and is in the installation notes. It is also how I do my development.
Some people have used it and said it prevented mini-dumps on older versions of Maelstrom that went over 2GB usage. But R7 uses less than 2GB's of RAM (as explained above).

I really like the new version. The titans are great! Thanks to having a titan, the dangerous asteroids are no longer overpowered in the early game. Planet balance is much better now too.

I am new to this mod and am eager to know and understand the new races (ships/capabilities etc) but i can't seem to access the website (http://www.soase-maelstrom.com/index.html -- all the links are broken for me for some reason)
Is there anyway else i might be able to read up on those?
I did boot the mod up and tried some races and great mod!
auggie12, the links at the website are working for me. it might be either a browser OR isp OR proxy settings issue with your computer/connection.

Website working for me. This is by far the best and most polished mod for sins I've ever played! Thanks for all your hard work.
I have a issuse with this mod, I was playing with a mate and pretty early in the game we got a few of the new planet types and we then earned a insane amount of resources, like I was getting 5-7 of metal but crystal i was getting 30+ with 6-7 mixed planets.
It made the game dull, since you then never needed money since you could just sell and sell and sell.
I have not played the mod enough to tell if this is a general thing with the new planet types but from the first look they seemed extreamly over powered and totaly change the gameplay and I dont think in a good way.
Is it intented in this way or is this a bug?

gotta say i love the mod, just a thought, but i was wondering if there is anyway to increase the weapon range of all ships against titans and the range of titans in general

well my thinking was that if u were able to increase the range of ships against titans, then battles might seem more epic if 20 frigates weren't gathered that close around the titan, that's all. dont want to make titans specifically more powerful.
I'm having trouble with this mod. I've downloaded from a couple of sources multiple times now hoping that maybe the problem is a messed up or corrupted file but still having the problem.
That problem is that the Title Screen menu is empty. There's nothing in it. I get the new splash icons and the great new music, but there are no buttons on the menu so I can't do anything.
To be more specific the trouble is with the Diplomacy Expansion. Havn't tried any of the others as it took hours just to get this one done and have it not work.
Is mansh00ters Volumetric Explosions present in this mod?
