Introduction
The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the SoaSE Universe.
It keeps the original races, the TEC, Advent and Vasari who are still to be found building and battling as usual.
All of the new races are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses.

Please note that for all mods the 'Installation and Change notes' are included in the download.
Use the recommended 'Graphics Effects Setting' as stated in the Installation notes of the mod.
And yes i know that the sins has no description of planets, the description it is for you to understand what kind-a planet it is, instead...
Release 3 of Maelstrom, which I am just finishing, will not have new planets. However I have reworked Ancient and Fortified planets.
The choice of planets will be based on interesting combination's of meshes, textures and particle effects.
I am happy with the current music. However I am thinking of making a minimod or two for Maelstrom - alternative music/voices/effects. Each race requires 15 music tracks, i.e the mod requires 45 tracks in total.
I will let you know when I get around to it ... in a couple of weeks.
Thank you. My point is that apart from meshes/textures/effects a planet is defined by a title, bonuses and entity setup. What might be worth while is to include your detailed descriptions in either a game 'loading screen' or on the Maelstrom website attached to a picture of the planet.
PS: sending pm's to me does not mean I will answer you more quickly. I am back at work and it is busy. You will have to be patient.
It will be great both ideas!
Do as your heart's desire... And better if-u are planning to put those descriptions, in the loading screen cause the players will better understand the purpose of the planet...
Thanks ... when I get to it I'll send you the results for your approval.
But you know my e-mail address by anyway?
And by the way do not forget to make the worlds similar to the pictures of them... so that i know at what i am looking!

univeraakh what was the old version & what is the new version?
harpo
I'll send a pm here.
As harpo asked ...
i.e you have installed the wrong version or your Sins install is corrupted.
Does the problem occur on your customs maps or the Sins standard maps?
my mistake guys sorry... when my computer crushed down cause a very powerful virus i needed to reinstall windows and delete all other programs.. and it seems that in the local disc C it remained a corrupted version of the sins and as i have a LOT of icons in the desk and case i haven't wake up completely it seems that i have opened the wrong sins and... the results is that i have this misunderstanding... cause the original sins isn't corrupted and it is up to date and no need to update the think is that if u don't sleep well you can hardly understand your own computer...
this is what you said at Reply #648:
"Release 3 of the mod will focus on new Planetary Structures"
Correct ... a Planetary Structure is not a planet. Planetary Structures include extractors, frigate/cap factories, tradeports and so on - 42 in total.
where is the PM?
Dude you really know how to put yourself to work...
PM is an abbreviation for Private Message. I also have your email ... if you remember I replied to you via hotmail.
Just trying to be thorough ... majority of the work is done.
i was asking this where is the PM? cause i didn't knew where did-u sent it... i mean on this site or directly on my e-mail...
cause i looked on my PM in box and i didn't saw anything...
A and by the way HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011!!
... expect a pm then.
And a happy New Year to you!
SoaSE do you know by any chance how to create sky-box textures for sins and how to make-em work...
No I haven't worked with sky-box textures before.
So this is a mod with 3 new races, but yet you use a whole bunch of Battlestar Galactica ships? So many ships models are ripped off from other mods. D- at best.
If you define a mod on about 15 models then you are partly right. In fact there are 42 planetary models and 50 ship models in the Maelstrom mod.
The BSG model's are not from other mod's but from a chap called Coxxon who made them readily available to modders.
Release 4 of the mod will focus on new fleets for at least 2 races.
Maelstrom is available for D, E and O.
The fact that a mod uses existing models does say nothing about it quality or value. In fact there are very very few mods out there (and I don't talk about sins only) where everything is done new and even less good ones. It is just too much work.
So better a good rip than something badly done yourself or even worse done nothing.
*giggle* I love simple sarcasm.
I agree about the quality value statemet. However, the real chore is texturing not so much making or finding people to make models. Funny thing is the same people will pick on custom built models too IMO *sigh* There just seems to be a group of people that like to be overly critical without investing anything into the process.
Personally I think the most complicated part of modding is coming up with the idea and translating it to the game. Try creating just one race with unique research trees, abilities, names, etc just to see how difficult it can be.
If modders were professional game developers, do you think they would give away their stuff for free? Enjoy the mods for what they are and keep the criticism constructive please.
My graphical mod uses fillers from Bailknight's graphical mod. That doesn't make it a bad mod. Most people who see it like it.
It's EXTREMELY difficult to do some 700 individual and unique effects. It took me 2 years to do about 500 of them, mostly the ones that Bailknight didn't do.
Soase-Maelstrom is doing top quality work here. Unconstructive criticism is not welcome.
