Here's a model I started working on for a mod I'm messing around with. I'm just trying to get a little bit of experience with creating units from scratch, nothing too serious right now. I just want to know if anybody has any constructive criticism about what I could have or should have done differently when it comes to desiging a model to be used in Sins. Any extra ideas are always welcome too. Keep in mind, that this is just after a few hours and it's a very basic rough draft.
Thanks in advance to anybody who replies
^Those are some nice details, especially on the barrel.
The legs still kind of seem weird to me, but I'd save a model with them just in case you end up modding a land RTS. Maybe you could replace them with some kind of fins or something (technically those don't make any more sense then legs, but it would look better with the Sins designs).
@GoaFan77 First off, thanks . And yeah, the only reason I've kept them this long is that I still haven't thought of what do do to finish off the base yet, they've just been kinda filling up space lol.
Yeah, I was thinking of fins as well. Maybe I'll add some missile mounts underneath the wings and use them as a close range fighter defense, like the hangars in entrenchment have.
Nice detailing Soldier! That's starting to look nice!
I would second the "fins" option... it would need thrusters and balancers in space....
You know what sucks more than not being able to think of ways to change your model to improve it? Actually thinking of something that fits it perfectly, then not being able to find a pen or pencil in time to put it down before it's gone...
Here's a question that's kinda off topic, but what do you guys think about pen tablets? I've been thinking about getting one
It depends on what you are wanting to do with it....
I have a wecom tablet for my PC that I LOVE!
I can draw, detail, texture, and airbrush soooo much better with a tablet.
Now if you mean a tablet computer - No, I do not like those so much... not a good enough screen size to work off of.
I've never really liked the idea of a tablet computer either. They're too limited. I was looking into getting the Intuos4 for detailed modeling like sculpting and I've heard it's GREAT for photoshop, which I use all the time
Photoshop is enhanced GREATLY by a tablet.
And yeah, I've got the Intuos3 from a while ago... and it is STILL excellent! I like the new features and pressure sensitivity of the i4. I would say get it if you can!
I like to use it on zBrush too for sculpting. Just make sure to set up your controls right, or it may get a bit frustrating...
