This is a mock up of my new project. Thank you, Tim (2of3) for the idea!
The start button will be animated.
Thats OK...I barely do either.
I dont want it quite that shiney, but I get your point. I need to think more in the line of different types of light, with possibly more than one direction that it would be comming from. I was going for a more worn, but not too worn, look. With dimention but like the finish has been worn off a bit. Some of my lines are not 100 percent straight...that was intentional to give it a more rustic feel. I will try some of your ideas out on my next set of days off and see where it takes me.
One of the reasons i started making blinds is because I was seeing things that I would change in some blinds that I was downloading....things I thought would look better done a different way. Exactly what you are doing now.
Try making one that you like....you may find that you enjoy the process.
just the wood pieces on the frame have been changed so far.. The shadow is off a bit now, so I'll have to fix that, but i'm quite happy with the result.
Vivid light is like... sex and candy
Lookin super
makes me want to play red dead redemption..nice blind
Thats an improvement...see how different blend modes enhance the grain rather than hazing it over. And being able to see the top stroke adds definition.
Use screen when you need a stronger glare.
I knew you didnt want that shiny but it was the easy way to show 2 bevels...1 large overlay hilite to put a smaller screen blend glare on.
What I didnt show in the picture was the radial gradient just to keep the broad surface areas from being too flat and even...that adds a little more interest and life.
If you then get real fancy you can add some surface ridges that follow the grain...where the finish soaks deeper in...heheheheheh
Dont forget...any raised or recessed surface that is on the wood now needs the same techniques applied.Like your text background...cant use screen for the edge bevel there if you no longer used it for the frame.
And ... youse lerns good.
Something you will find out now...blend modes do NOT work outside of PS unless they are already merged into the image...as with something from the background to blend with.
A button that has to sit on top of another element like the taskbar will either have to have some of the taskbar already under the blended pixels ...or...fake it using colors and trans settings that simulate the blend how it looked in PS.
What that means is...what looks fabuloso in PS when it has a backing to blend on may look completely different when the button is saved out with nothing behind it.WB dosnt know that tga originally was meant to blend differently.A tga will revert to just blending the color as tho it were set to normal in PS.(plus the amount of trans)
Fun stuff huh?
You think that was snippy??? You should see the way she talks to Tim...
Your suggestion about Vivid Light caused me to purposely try it out while working on something at work ( ). I also decided to try overlay instead of multiply in the shadow area. The graphic I was working on went from ok to awesome! Thanks!
Here's a before & after of my stuff.
Awesome MG! That does look a lot better! It's amazing what a tiny change in technique can do.
I also never edit through sks. I make all my images and save them as .png in a seperate folder...then import them. That way I can tweak to my hearts content, and when it's done, it's saved as a backup...and I can give/use them to make accessories.
i have no idea of the ends and outs of making a blind .but i know what looks good and i am loving this .
Sorta makes me think, The quick and the dead, with Sharon stone as the ultimate kick-ass female Gunslinger.
I'm thinkin' Wanted Dead Or Alive--My boys' favorite show!
I'm still not happy with the tabs. I've tried a few things and all of them have been...blah. Any suggestions?
I was afraid any more suggestions might give you a brain aneurysm.
I like what you've done with it now.(yes, she sent it to me already...aint you all jealous?)
Spent shell casings maybe? Such as the empty casing...the lead bullet...and then an assembled bullet. Not so much in that order. Or just different shades or states of tarnish of the bullet?
I don't give many comments but this theme is excellent very nice.Way to go.
Can't wait to see it finished.Good job.It would be nice to see a western icon package (Guns Badges Bullets Horses Cowboys)
I think you hit the bullseye with this one!
yeah....it's dropdead gorgeous.....
