yup MoM is one of the few dosbox games i would rather play than most modern games. Hoping this game turns out to be better, or at least just the same. But we would have to see some major changes between now and release..
MoM Gameplay is still 8 kinds of awesome, the only thing lacking by todays standards and the graphics and the AI. In it's time the Ai was damned impressive. Compared to what we can do now? Not so much.
yeah... if micropose only released their code, then there was probably allready a graphical update by now...but for me the level of detail that mom presents is still amazing - all these different rules they incorporated...
what i am wondering tough, i recently saw a guy playing a game of mom (think on youtube) and i have no idea what his version was, but for his game, enemy wizzards were randomly created by randomly selecting skills and spellbooks and not just using the premade wizzards (also in terms of character, strategy etc.)... - does anyone know what kind of version this was?
you mean choosing to make your own wizard. because thats under the custom button. You can choose what skills you want and how many spell books you want using a point system.

I am hardly a big demander of graphics. I don't mind the maps, but the units are awful and difficult to identify.
I wonder whether someone could just update the units. I don't know whether the unit graphics are separate files or hardwired into the game.
I have tried some suggestions on the gog forum. Maybe my monitor is too big at 24".
Heh. I remember when MoM first came out how awesome we thought the graphics were. "Look! You can see individual troops in a unit!" Times have changed.

the game was released 93 or 94? the grapic wasnt that good even for that time...by the way, 24 inches is way to big (me too) - but you can play it in a window...this way you can do different stuff at the same time and it looks slightly better...
1994 other games like mortal kombat 2, ridge racer 2, jagged alliance, doom 2, xcom, heretic and warcraft were also released, all with betther graphics...that was actually quite a year...jagged alliance and warcraft, two other favorites of mine
damn, just watched a jagged alliance 1 video, i LOVE the sound...these were games, with HEART not like todays garbage
There is a fansite for MoM that has quite a nice little mod they have been working on recently.
The site is www.dragonsword.com. Go into the forums there and look for the thread for the "Insecticide" 1.40f patch. It has a few AI/bug fixes and adds more powerful raiding parties to the game, etc.
