Paradox Interactive has announced that if 25,000 people 'Like' the Facebook page they have launched for Crusader Kings 2, they will announce the game ... the sequel to what in my opinion and that of many other fans is the greatest strategy/RPG hybrid ever made. For those who may not have played the original Crusader Kings, imagine, if you will, being able to portray any of several HUNDRED Medieval family dynasties, from the progeny of William the Conqueror to the constant Comnenoi and Paleologid aspirants for the throne of the Byzantine Empire, to the humblest and lowliest lord of the most obscure fief in France. Not only did you play out their ambitions on a grand scale across the map of Europe, the Levant, and North Africa, conquering territories and raising yourself to whatever heights of greatness you might desire, but also marrying, having children (occasionally bastard children, if that's your wont), marrying those children off, and contributing to the vast web of European bloodlines. For instance, you may be the lord of some forgotten corner of Germany, but your grandchildren or great-grandchildren could stand to inherit Austria! Both the physical appearance as well as the medical and psychological traits of your ancestors are passed down through the generations, along with their chance to inherit lands and titles. Crusader Kings was as much an RPG and a simulation of the complicated system of politics in the Middle Ages as a grand strategy game in the vein of Europa Universalis or Hearts of Iron. And now, we have the prospect of a sequel! So please, if you would, visit the following page, and take a moment to 'Like' it.

Unfortunately FecesBook wants you to be a member to like something. I ought to create a baloney account for moments like these, but I am too lazy.
So will they really not announce the game if it doesn't get enough likes? Seems pretty risky.
I really would love a Crusader Kings 2 release, almost as much as I would love for these forums to work more often than not. I hate this gimmick thing though. Either they don't know their audience at all (even though I have a facebook account), or this is just a rolling joke for them which is not the kind of treatment fans should be subjected to.
I like!
And about time as well!
Hmm. I can't help wondering if this is a hoax. I'd love to be wrong, but it does seem a bit suspicious.
It's not a hoax

Seems pretty weird imo.
Possibly they are trying to determine Facebook activity to see if there is a market for a Paradox game on there?
Either way, this is an announcement that there is a CK2 coming, just not an official announcement ie. a press release.
Well if they do it, I hope Paradox scraps the old code they could never fix just right and just run with the idea and fresh code. I've never found anything quite like CK, and I kept looking for one that was a lot more stable than CK could be in an multiplayer setting.
They also need to completely overhaul the UI. More than anything, that kept me from getting into the game.
I could partially agree with that, except the part not getting into it part. I would love for easier access to info in game. I spent way too much time looking at online spreadsheets and looking up guides trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
Exactly! I really wanted to like the game, but just figuring out who was doing what where was a nightmare. Talk about withholding information from the player! After a few hours I just gave up.
Agrh... This thread made me go buy Crusader Kings and now I can't stop playing it. It's like a big medieval soap opera!
Isn't it, though?
Every time a friend asks me to recommend a PC game, the first I recommend is Crusader Kings. The second is Europa Universalis III, but there's something about CK, especially with the dynasty dynamic, that makes you hang on every single day, week, month, and year. You want to play for just a little while longer, to see what happens. Will your eldest son inherit? Will he die prematurely? Will the death of your lord spark a civil war amongst his offspring? Will you inherit the throne of Byzantium now that the childless Comnenid emperor, into whose family your great-great-great grandfather married one of his daughters, has contracted the plague and is like to die? Will the crusading forces of Christendom manage to eject the Moors from their European foothold in Iberia? Will the last descendant of Edward the Confessor, exiled to Scotland, rampage into England from the north and reclaim the crown which William the Bastard so unjustly stole from him?
It's definitely addictive, and never, EVER boring.
By the way, there are now nearly 2,000 signed up on the CK2 page! Please join up and become a fan of this petition for CK2 on Facebook. Everything I described above could be made even better with a new game using technology and systems that Paradox did not have available when the original Crusader Kings was released six years ago.
