The official English web site for Disciples 3: Renaissance just went live a day or two ago. See link.
At the moment, it appears to be confirmed that it will available through Steam. Whether it will be distributed retail by Kalypso, I do not know. The minimum requirements do include a DVD so one would think so. The Disciples franchise is now wholly owned by Akella of Moscow who have put a tremendous amount of time, effort, and money into the production of Disciples III: Renaissance. (Strategy First is no longer involved.)
It is hard to tell from the information now available whether the new Disciples III is good or not so good. One "well known" fan of the series has freely voiced his displeasure:

Now this next video review is a serious and very well done review from someone who has been playing the Russian version which has been out for quite some time. As a fan of the Disciples series he seems to reflect appreciation of the game mixed with some disappointments.

It seems to me unfair to complain that Disciples III: Renaissance is not the full 3D equivalent of Disciples II Complete which now comes with all the expansion packs and patches that took years to develop. This initial release is Akella's renaissance of the series and it will grow and develop with time. The Mountain Clans and The Undead will be in expansion packs probably. On the positive side we do get the Elves with Renaissance! Lead me to them! And the Warrior, the Guildmaster, and the Mage are fully intact.
Just my IMHO, the combat system from Disciples and Disciples 2 could not be retained without seeming hopelessly retro. HoMM and King's Bounty were on the right track, I do not think it is mere copying from them. It is the best combat system with the technology now available. If they have done away with some of the more tedious features of the Disciples and Disciples 2 combat that is all right with me!
Single player only is fine with me; and what I prefer. Your mileage may vary.
Now I am writing this in the hope that others will contribute any information they have or may come across in these final weeks leading up to the release. And your opinions on the Disciples series in general whatever they may be.
I have posted only recently that I had no interest in any game coming out this year other than Elemental: War of Magic. But I didn't know then that Disciples 3: Renaissance was about to be released. The Disciples series has always held a special fascination for me, and a special place in my heart. It seems to me as much a work of art as a game.

Warning! I found one review in Russian from AG that I translated via Google. The review was negative, mentioning among many other problems "constipated elves and demons!" The responses below are so far negative overall. It would be wise to wait for professional reviews from the major English reviewers before making a purchase decision.
Demo: Timo of Kalypso says they are working on an English Demo of Disciples III. Likely on Steam, possibly other places.
Woah that's out of the blue! I'm pretty excited to pick this one up. Didnt realize this was happening so soon.
ya its been out for some time in russia, and i heard ALOT of bad stuff. Shame. It LOOKED amazing.
It's been out in English for quite some time, or I think the RUS version came with English on it and you only needed a fan patch to switch languages.
I've only heard terrible, terrible things about the game, otherwise I would have tried it months ago. I loved Disciples II very much, but the third game does away with a lot of what I loved. I'm not talking races, but core mechanics like not having persistent heroes (outside the campaign) and units.
Maybe some day some great patches or add-ons will make Disciples more interesting.
Game complete shit, million bags, only super is - graphics.
PS sorry for bad english
I have heard bad things about this game on the forum of Kings Bounty. Still I would say that this reviewer is rather strange. He doesent like that the battles are similar to Kings Bounty and he loves the Disicples II battles. I have played both and he must be overwhelmed by nostalgia. The battles of Disicples II are very old fashioned and simple and if used in a game today would be scorned in my opinion. Kings Bounty has the best turn based battles that I know of in a TBS game and being similar to Kings Bounty is hardly a turn off for me. I await more reviews before I deciede to buy or not.
Greetings from Ukraine!
According to the ratings on russian sites Disciples 3 - the worst game of 2009. Do not ever ever ever buy it!
Ehhhh.
I understood what you said perfectly.
What I don't understand is why there arn't more games with Russian or eastern european females in them?
I only barely heard about this game shifting through gaming sites a few years ago, those graphics are exquisite but unless they bring out multiplayer i doubt ill ever look at it again.
I heard bad things about the Russian version, but given that its been released for at least a year, people were hoping that a number of bugfixes had been introduced. I don't know though.
I have my Disciples gold II ultra complete pack still to this day. I hope impulse one day has it. And im sure its not all bad. When a game has such a history as this one, your not going to please everyone. Just like might and magic.
I quiye enjoy the Tribes of the East stand alone that I bought on impulse
There's nothing "dated" about the DII battle system, it's a standard turn based system used in many console RPGs even today. It worked well and made the game flow more quickly. It was also very reminiscent of Ogre Battle like much of the game.
The "King's Bounty system" is a direct rip from HoMM. I know KB came out first back in 1990, but HoMM has tweaked it's system for decades since and now KB Legends went and took every single aspect from HoMMV without the slightest alteration. I just wanted to point that out.
Thank you Sanati. You are correct. I stand corrected.
I guess I meant "dated" in terms of the expectations of casual players who buy a game these days. Even the venerable Civilization series is reworking its combat to a more tactical hex grid system in Civilization 5.
I of course play Disciples 2 and the combat system works very well indeed. By tedium I meant trudging back to some town to get one or more of your troops resurrected and healed. I should build more thieves and rob more merchants maybe?
I did play King's Bounty but was unaware that they had ripped from Heroes of Might and Magic V. Indeed I am deeply shocked since the Russians have such a great reputation for honesty and originality. What has Capitalism done to these once decent and honorable Communists?
That sounds more like what a game magazine would say. I personally like each game for its particular battle system and would like more of the same from each of them. I do like the HOMM battle system but would want Disciples III to stay with what Disciples already had. I buy a sequel of a series because I liked the way the original played.
Of course I'm waiting for a game like this(TBS) to come out which has a real-time pause-able battle system with small parties sort of like Lords of Magic had(or NWN 2 if you havent played that ancient gem).
I totally agree with you on this. One of the things that I enjoyed so much about the series was the simple, yet strategic combat system.
The Kings Bounty system is an evolution of the HoMM system I would say. It has been improved upon and Kings Bounty battles are far more fun than HoMM in my opinion.
The art style, lore and factions of the Disciples series are just outstanding. Game mechanics are a bit on the simple side but there's enough to keep it interesting and the heroes are cool. Definitely gonna try that out.
I was secretly hoping Elemental would be the game that would combine the best parts of Disciples (art, lore), MoM (game mechanics) and AoW:SM (tactical battles) but it seems it will be more like MoM with lots of gardens.
I saw your first two videos. Its helpful. The acting by person who played hitler is really good. reverse phone lookup
