Work it, Jim!
Work it, Jim! .................................
My F-105 Thud cockpit now has a functional [moving] canopy operated by xml 'gauges'. Took a bit of drawing and tweaking...but it's looking kewl.
All I need now is some suitable reference material to detail to suit....
You might want to try accessing nasa's archives. They have tons of material on just about every warplane that flew from korea onward. What the 'Thud' was most famous for was it's use as a 'Wild Weasel'. They'd go out over the skies of Hanoi and bait the missile batteries or the Migs the north used. Once located they'd call in other more powerful jets like the Phantom II to take them out. Didn't always work though. F-105's were big and cumbersome and slow to get out of the way.
OK, final shot. I think it's done.
Uvah....
I have pretty well all the books ever published on the plane [just got another on monday from Amazon S/H...been out of print for yonks], most of the model kits....a couple of videos [VHS and specifically on the Wild Weasels] so their history is well known.
I need to go through all those magazine articles [again] in the search of a simple clear view of the inside rails/frame of the canopy to get mine a little more 'accurate'.
The first job though was to get the animation functioning 'right' and 'keyed' to the canopy switch...
At least I'm not the only one who has an interest in aircraft. When I was younger I built just about every plane from WW1 on up to Viet Nam in 1:72 scale, 1:48 and my favorite 1:32 scale. The best two I did was the ME 109 and the P-51. Great detail especially on the engines. One I did before they became too expensive was the F/A 18 Hornet in 1:32 scale. Did some heavy mods to it with light up displays on the instrument panel, clear plastic over the dials with grain-of-wheat bulbs (before LED's came along) and strands of plastic fiber optics from one of those novelty toys. Used those for the indicator lights. One thing I did like doing was cutting out the control surfaces and modifying them and then placing them in a down position. You should have seen the ceiling in my room. I had, no word of a lie, 100 small 72nd. scale planes hanging from it. I even had the Wright Brothers flyer. Thems was the days. Today you'd need a small fortune to buy one if they even still exist. Lol

Acrylic7 gets my vote, I'm partial to blue anyway. Very nice work Web. I'm gonna try for Nexus again just so I can get my greedy hands on both of 'em.
In the mean time an update on my rainy. The buttons may look a little too big or may not fit the skin. What do you guys think.
Yep... and I can't wait to give them a spin!
