although i haven't posted here for a while, i do occasionally manage to make a little time for myself and drop by long enough to see who's ranting about what. most recently it was yesterday morning just before being engulfed for the next 12 hours in the tedious labyrinth of winmerging two infinite groups of barely unique files.
during that ten minutes or so, while enjoying the perfect lunacy that is teabag nation, i noticed someone postulating something about the president as follows:
"...if Obammy is impeached..."
and i've been wondering since what that 'obammy' thing is all about.
here's a link to the discussion in question (visitors be warned: it is a foil hat zone); scroll down to reply#5.
You're starting to sound like Mumble... careful, or you guys will soon become interchangeable. If you're asking me whether I think the nickname 'Obammy' has any hidden meaning, then I really couldn't say.... when I'm not burning crosses on peoples lawns and sharpening the point on my Nazi helmet, I usually surf the web to see what my fellow teabagging extremists are saying and it seems like 'Obammy' is a popular nickname with them, I also like 'Obozo' and 'O-blame-a' but I'm not sure if there is a hidden message there either.
based on those comments, i can understand why you feel terrorism is all-or-nothing simple as you seem to claim: you confuse tactic with with objectives.
Not at all. I condemn terrorist, the tactic and terrorism, the objective. It can be both.
For example, while I totally support the objective of Zionism, I oppose the tactic of terrorism to fight for that goal. That's why you don't see me celebrating Baruch Goldstein (was that his name) like my dear opponents celebrate that Lebanese family murderer who was released from prison recently.
more importantly, both scenarios clearly describe using terror as a tactic or tool with which to scare their perceived enemies into submission. it's as simple as a thug wordlessly pantomiming throat slashing for the benefit of potential witnesses against him. or bombing a hotel to convince your perceived oppressor to cut his losses and leave for home.
I am assuming you say "hotel" because the building was built as one and enjoy the fact that this makes the attack sound like terrorism. In fact the "hotel" was a British military base at the time.
Attacking a British military base is wrong and the British were not actual "oppressors" (although they did a lot to arm and train the Transjordanian army that would later make Jerusalem and the West-Bank judenrein, plus they made Hitler's friend the "Grand Mufti" chief of the Jerusalem holy sites).
But attacking a military base is not terrorism.
Not even if done by Jews.
The Nazi's did not have pointed helmets. That was Kaiser Germany, before the 3rd Reich.
There goes the last thing I thought I liked about the Nazis.
yeah doc, thats right... sheesh you don't have to get so technical
Come on now, they still had pretty sharp uniforms.
Besides the US liked the WWII German helmets so much they adopted a variation of it. All kidding aside, a lot of testing went into it, I recall reading about it back in the 80's.
Sorry, my pointy head has been bare since my ex got my antique german helmet.
No, by "meanness" I am not talking about muzzling of opposition or anything else of the sort. I am talking about the fact that America has become a very mean place, much more so at the end of this decade than in the 90's.
There is evidence of this everywhere- the vitriol spewed by popular talk show hosts, the lack of dignity or respect in national discussions and most distressingly the lack of compassion for those that are on hard times. In short, your once great nation is in the sad process of imploding, and rather than wake up and realize what the real problems are folks are turning to scapegoats, blaming the disadvantaged and marginalized as the problem when the reality couldn't be further to the truth.
Let's look at this little humdinger;
-Public education and social programs are getting their budget slashed everywhere (those kids don't need to learn and granny can eat cat food, right!)
-national infrastructure overall is decaying
-economy is still in the gutter, real unemployment is creeping up on 20% but yet massive multi-billion bailouts went to the banks while joe blow got peanuts
-60% of your energy is imported, U.S hit it's peak oil production almost 40 years ago and has been declining ever since. Even if you turn up all the offshore oil rigs you can, there is no way in hell you could ever hit the production peak in 1970/71, but only temporarily delay the inevitable.
-In spite of record deficits and budget-slashery, the U.S defense budget this year is a record whopping 838 billion (over a trillion if you count in things like the budget for nukes, military aid to other countries which are covered by other departments like DOE, state, etc)
And yet, for having the highest defense budget in the world the U.S is not officially at war with anyone.
So there are all these huge problems facing the U.S. And the tea partyers are one hundred percent correct to be mad as hell, at least they've clued in to the fact that things are going down shit creek without a paddle.
Saddly, while they are right to be angry, and have correctly deduced that something is indeed rotten in the state of denmark, that anger is being very skillfully channeled away from the real perpetrators.
Let's see the tea-partyers demand that BP have all it's assets in the U.S stripped (monetary and otherwise) for it's crime that has now closed off more than 30% of U.S waters in the gulf.
Let's see the tea-partyers demand a real energy solution, instead of the "drill baby, drill!" mantra that will only delay the inevitable
Let's see the tea-partyers call a spade a spade and denounce both the democrat and republican party as the complete sham they are and form a third party not beholden to the special interests like the defense lobby, healthcare and big banks which are slowly bleeding your country dry.
If that happens, I'll open up a chapter myself!
That's the narrative being put forth. And it's ugatz . But go ahead & keep lobbing it over the border at us without knowing SFS.
So you are saying it was not "mean" during the early part of the decade? What is your definition of "mean"? Making movies of assassinating the president? Oh, wait, that was just Bush. Calling The president a nazi and comparing him to Hitler? Oh, wait that was Bush as well. Calling the president stupid and a fool? Oh, wait, that was Bush as well.
It seems that your definition of mean is "anything said derogatory of the left". Which just goes to prove the point you are weakly trying to deny.
Federal Budget spending on social programs up 16% in the last 2 years.
Courtesy of the Obama Bailout and Stimulus plan.
It never decayed before?
Obama shut down all off shore drilling.
Hell's Angels.
I am talking about the fact that America has become a very mean place, much more so at the end of this decade than in the 90's.
While we are all being mean and making fun of Obama... cry me a river, liberal. This is from a German satirical magazine about the need to elect a new German president and the ridiculous discussion about whom to nominate:
The man is Roberto Blanco, a famous singer in Germany.
The black text in the bubble says "Does it always have to be a man or a woman?".
The white words say "Federal President Blanco:".
The yellow text says "why not a negro?".
US Army.
Turns out it was George Bush's fault! I just seen it on TV, it's got to be true!
I thought the topic was:
Obammy!Obammy, Obammy bo Bobammy Bonana fanna fo FobammyFee fy mo Mobammy Obammy!
Come on Anthony, don't let BusyBee's weak mind down.
I could almost swear you are criticizing Obama here. Maybe I missed something here?
i didn't ask about a hidden meaning for the same reason you can't provide one.
there's nothing hidden. (wc fields famous exclaimation: "there's an ethiopian in the fuel supply!" qualifies by comparison where as it might otherwise be most liberally categorized as "thinly veiled."
what i'm asking of you is simple enough: what is its actual meaning or what do you intend it to mean?
i had no idea so i did a lil googling and discovered it does have its fans.
these guys, for example. and these guys.
not sure if they'd consider "obozo" or "o-blame-a" adequate substitutes.
not sure why i googled obammy images but i did.
at the top of the page i found this:

I'm still not getting why nicknames are suddenly relevant.
I remember "Klinton" and "Bushhitler" (see "Hitler" in the liberal dictionary*). What's worse about "Obammy" or "o-blame-a"?
"Hitler"nounAny individual involved in a conflict between America and Arab nationalists except the dictator with the moustache who gases people.

Hmm, the 101st or 1001st hits from goolge? Great research. I am sure you can find anything if you sift through the google hits long enough.
By god, you have struck Searchdirt!
KB, those sites are so inflammatory that in 2010 it has to be satire, or its someone just trying to make Obama's critics look bad. Although, I'll bet there really are lots of bigots and racists on both sides of the isle. Anyway, whats your point? do you really think I'm a racist? I guess it doesn't matter much now that Obama is going down as one of the nations worst Presidents.... Nixonian criminality mixed with Carteresque incompetence. Congratulations.
Yeah, that's it. Don't even wait until he's out of office.
We were hearing that about W 1-21-01. No, make that November 2000. So what's your point?
