Well, if I sit still for too long my brain starts hurting so here's what Ive decided on for my next theme after piddling around for a day or three with a few concepts.
Rendered in Cinema 4D with lots of post work in PS, a warm, contemporary type skin with soft colorful mood lighting reminiscent of modern stainless counter-tops and luxury appliances. Perhaps bordering a little on futuristic.
Hopefully it'll turn out sharp, no idea what the rest will look like but I'm very happy with its beginnings.
The thread header is Penthouse - Contemporary Elegance , Syd and I (she's always a great help) must have gone through 200 before deciding on it.
Gonna run a little contest, for the funniest caption after Penthouse -
example: Penthouse - Damn, who drank all the caviar! .... You get the idea
Enter as many times as you like but no pics please. Winner gets the Final Blind when it is finished and their choice of 2 others of mine which they may not have or would like to gift to someone.

I think he meant the texts on the original screenshot appeared to be imprinted deep inside the menu frame giving it the 3D effect because you used light shadow that made the texts appeared stamped deep inside the menu frame. The texts on sidney's screenshot does not have any shadow so they look laying flat over the menu frame.
XP doesn't support that, only Win 7 does (original Mock-up) ...which I haven't started assembling yet
Gotta say John...that this is the best skin I've seen to date...hands down...bar none!

I just remember from the very first screenshot that the blue highlights on the black sides of the Start panel were brighter, which brought them forward a bit more than they appear now. Then again, maybe my memory is faulty. In any case, it's no big deal, it still looks great
