Ok ... so I am in Campaign for (well, both Dark Crusade and Soulstorm) playing as the Imperial Guard
and ... I remember being able to assign Missile Launcher as a heavy weapons upgrade to my guardsmen squads (and Kaskrin squads)
But now all I can build are Grenade Launchers and Plasma Guns ... I want my Missile Launchers and Plasma Rifles!!
so ... does anyone happen to know if its a patch I need (or if a patch removed it) or what ...

You might have been playing a mod, since I don't ever recall Guardsmen and Kasrkin squads being able to upgrade with missile launchers in an un-modded Dawn of War. There are Heavy Weapons Teams but those are a bit different as they're entrenching single-unit squads.
Yup, you're hallucinating. Guardsmen and Kasrkin haven't ever been able to build missile launchers. You might be thinking about space marine tactical squads.
In the space marines campaign (the first cmapaing wiht the first gmae) you get to control 3-4 IG squads: IIRC, you could add flamers and rocket launchers on those troops.
Of coruse they removes all of that with only the grenade launcher and plasma gun for some dumb "Balance" reason..hell DoW1, unpatched, you can add Zzzzap gunz to your Orc squads...first patch comes around..none of that
You do realize that an Orc with a Zzaap gun is neither fluffy nor codex?

I saw the zzapp gun in the Orc Codex. anti-Vehicular, with a rnadom dice roll to see if it blowes uyp or not
I see ... well I think it would only be fair for IG guardsmen/ Kaskrin squads to also be able to use Flamers and Missile Launchers.
In Dark Crusade Pro (mod) they can use flamers, but still no missile launchers ...
Also, the only detectors the IG have in unmodded is Psychers ... so only 3 total detector units?? Weak if you ask me. In Dark Crusade Pro all "special commanders" can become detectors, which is a total of 6 (2 each vs 3 each) + your Command squad if you get the Optical Targeting Wargear.
So while Pro isn't my favorite mod per-se, it does seem to add a lil something to the IG
Meanwhile unmodded Necrons are like ROFLPWN (for the most part) ... although Space Marines don't have too much problems with the Necrons.
I used to love playing dark crusade, tried a couple of mods but none really improved anything IMHO... with soulstorm the map takes so long to load it really annoys me (it likes to use at least a gig of RAM more than dark crusade for some reason I can't fathom...) I like playing with the sim rate lowered... default is a clickfest to me... frantic and annoying... can't figure out how to change the camp default though... I end up changing it per map.
It would be nice if province control bonuses could be included in elemental in some form... like controlling a "sprite honour guard" while your land encompasses a region bound by fairy rings... stone golems while you control a mountain resource "green golem's pass" or similar(I suppose you could just have 3 or 4 of each province resource marking out an area and require all parts to be in your land to be effective... to make them more than just a powerful extra resource)
I found with necrons the mass of infantry was always weak against disrupting attacks... grenades, harlequins dancing and any exploding weapons... So what is the best mod to try then for balance or new stuff?
Yeah, the only thing Ig got for them are the Grenade launchers...good when you're facing off the Sisters of Battle and the other guy goes with the "All Heavy Bolter" approach..distrup them like there's no tomorrow
Leader: Zzaap guns are Orkish weapons, yes, but they are so freaking big not even an Ork can carry them so they need to be either Gretchin-propelled artillery or mounted on a vehicle or Monstrous Creature like the Squiggoth.
Tasunke: If you want Guardsmen with all the weapons they can carry, play the FoK mod for some awesome IG action as they get mortar teams, heavy bolter teams, and missile launcher teams as leader options for their Guardsmen squads, and the heavy bolters can be upgrade to autocannons and the missile launchers upgraded to lascannons. Also, you can upgrade your Guardsman squads with either a plasma gun, flamer, melta gun, grenade launcher, or sniper rifle. Since it is a closer-to-codex mod, your Guardsmen will die in massive quantities, but that's not an issue since you'll outnumber anyone but Orks 3:1 or worse.
Frankenfurter: Soulstorm takes so long to load and takes so much RAM since Iron Lore left all the textures they made in uncompressed TGA format.

Currently for Dark Crusade, moving to Soulstorm soon (whenever that is) though.
If you register, you get access to a much nicer version of the mod than 3.5 which was released back in September of last year, so registering is highly advised for best experience.
Also, join the Xfire cult, and then let me know your Xfire name and I'll pop you an invite to a room some other guys and I hang out in. We don't ever play FoK for some reason, but its a nice place to shoot the breeze.
Well, dat'd be interesting. Does the nicer version run on Windows 7? Because as far as I know the 3.5 version does not :/
It should run perfectly fine for Windows, whether or not it is XP, Vista, or 7. Can you tell me what your problem was?
Well, I wasn't there for the full download, so it could have just been a faulty download. Ill see what I can do.
That's not at all descriptive. If you had told me you had extraction/installation issues, or not-showing-up-in-game-manager issues, or activation issues, then I might be able to help.
Or, you could register on the FoK forums and ask in the Tech Support area if you problem persists and I have no clue how to solve it.
Nah, I wasn't telling you what happened entirely, I was just saying that I was gonna try a reinstall, and pay close attention to it, and then let you know if the re-install has any problems
