Playing the Beta at the moment obviously.
I am hoping that at some stage the gains from levelling will be tweaked. I find that I am just putting points into essences and health because the benefits from increasing the others are just too small in relation to these stats. Essences means more cities more strageically placed, and health to survive, because for 1 level to increase attack by only one point with no gains in health is not much fun.
I guess if you gained a stat bonus to health and mana on levelling that would help a fair bit I Think. In saying this of course, I don't want heros to be unbeatable in the higher levels (I found that I could do that in MOM with artificer and making Uber items for my heros... 1 hero could win the game), but still I would like to see a better balance on levelling up. I thought I might be more intested in popping those other stats up, if it was a 0.2 gain, and not a 0.1 gain per point.... maybe...
Just another thought / thing to look at. I am assuming this sort of balancing to be going on in beta 3.
I am guessing that this has been looked at, but at the moment, I can't seem to find the topic / forum item discussing this.
Yeah the leveling thing seems a little weak atm. I also only put points in either Ess if I need more cities or HP's otherwise because those extra 10 HP's seem to make alot bigger difference than that + 1 to attack or combat speed.
I was about to make a post on this.
I found that leveling is not very fun at all.
So many choices to points in its almost overwhelming...and yeah I feel like im gimping myself if I don't put them into essence.
I agree, if each point you spent made a noticeable difference to your sovereign (such as HP and Essence) then it would make it more interesting.
It does need sorting yes. I expect they will tweak it a lot before release. It would only require altering data values anyway.
I like having all the choices upon level that we have (and having even more choices for the points would be even better yay!)
But yea, the system needs Refinement. Probably we will see a more fluid game in next release?
Hmm,
Guess I will wait til Beta 3 comes out to see. Much is happening and progressing all the time.
Excellent point, Madocs. Hopefully Beta 3 will last long enough for us to have some significant input into game-play balancing. If not I'm sure Stardock will have a system worked out internally that should be "fun". There will be many Mods none the less, I'm sure, that will have a total re-balancing of more or less every system in the game. Also thanks to Stardock's thinking ahead, this will all be possible through XML so a lot of people who have never "Modded" a game before will be able to open a file and easily make changes them-selves.
Note: Thanks for putting (Game-play) in the title. It made it really easy to know where you wanted this to go
