Are there any advantages of having a high karma? If not, what's the point of the whole karma system of this forum?
(I'm just curious, I don't think I'll ever have much of it )
OK everyone, can I have your attention.....
Go ahead Doc, I see you are trying to make a point......
Karma just shows how many people appreciated something you did or said on the Forums.
It's essentially one-way currency in exchange for noteworthy posts.

I don't call all those forum games noteworthy posts, just spam that takes up half the recent replies. I really wish there was a way to remove the Off Topics from Recent Posts because maybe 1% are worth a look and then some get locked anyway.
Thanks for explaining it, I'll give you karma for this post
Nevertheless, imagine the face of the original poster when he started reading it
So true. We really could use a filter here...
"Instant karma’s gonna get youGonna knock you off your feetBetter recognize your brothersEv’ryone you meetWhy in the world are we hereSurely not to live in pain and fearWhy on earth are you thereWhen you’re ev’rywhereCome and get your share"
~John Lennon
and again.
Look at what's happening over there after the Greek God of Karma lost his way...
I am running on an abolish Karma platform in November.
The current 'Stardockia-wide' karma list plus the disappearing karma problem make me suspect that Bara is in the process of making karma totals consistent across all Stardock forums, even if you've never made a post at that forum directly. Or else putting a filter on the report page to exclude 'non-local' sites is a low-pri task.
@the OP: That earlier chocolate-as-crank line is one part of it; karma can mean nothing when you have none, but if somehow folks pile some on you and then you 'act the same' but go for a while without more karma, you think about karma and get irritated by confronting your own vanity. Also, I think the Elemental devs once used karma as one criterion for choosing a select group of beta volunteers for some NDA-covered testing.
Nah Doc he has to buy us all Pizza
Nor did I. I just had an interesting conversation in a Forum Game discussing the worth of karma, and me and my peers there concluded together that most karma is given for no real reason at all, and that it measures nothing important. We also agreed that karma should only be given for TRULY noteworthy and interesting things, yet I'm a hypocrite in that respect; most of mine is for simply giving out lols.
Karma, is like IOU's. We give it you when you have done something worth while at a time when we have no other means of compensation. Yet its worth nothing.
Karma the -10th wonder of the world
Cake.
I giving and receiving karma. It's just a little more of a thank you or simpatico or funny. And It's ours to keep.
Just wanted to add, I am thankful for the Karma that has been bestowed on me by others, I enjoy helping folks and if that's what they want to do in thanks, by all means.... I just think that as a whole, its a bad idea for the site. I don't see that since it has been implemented there has been any significant betterment of the site as a result.
it's like the old saying what goes around comes around , and lets face it , its called karma ....
Karma, like life itself, is what you make of it.
would anyone like a cup of tea?
No, but thanks for asking.

When I get to 1000 karma's I'm gonna trade it in for a zimmer frame and a sub to geriatrics-get-together.com.
I hear over there that the karma helps you forget your woes if the senility doesn't.
